FOR BETTER CARPET AND
RUG CARE — Just,how long a
good carpet or rub will Wear and
ook its best depends for the
nost part upon care it is given
Research reports say:
Don’t use cleaning fluid, soap,
monia, washing soda, or other
ikaline. solutions on cotton car
-ets.
Don’t use an abundance of wa
er on nylon or saran carpet as
these fibers are nonporus and
water will reach backing.
Don’t use an abundance of wa
ter, or water solution, or frieze
or looppiled carpet; just brush
lightly with damp cloth.
Don’t use cleaning fluid on
carpets with latex backings as
it may soften the latex; nor nail
polish remover on carpets con
taining acetate, yarns as it will
dissolve these yarns.
Use the same mild detergent
you use on fine wool, cotton, ny-1
Ion, acetate, and rayon garments
Don fail to dry backing, pad, or !
floor under a carpet if it gets I
wet. Use fan for circulation of '
air Or lift rug off floor until all j
is dry, to prevent mildew and rot, j
Don’t stand heavy pieces of J
furniture on newly cleaned, damp !
carpets as these dents will be
hard to remove. If the legs of fur
niture have metallic caps or cas
ters, don’t allow it to stand on
damp rugs or carpeting, for rust
spots are easily formed in this
way.
Milk production in the United
