Presbyterian Circles Met Monday; Bierson To Sseak At Shiloh Smdav £y Mrs. M. C. Hardin Teleohone Grover 3242 GROVER —% The Rev. Fred R McAlister, pastor of the Phila delphia Presbyterian church in Forest Park Ga., was guest pas tor at Shiloh Sunday. Mr. McAlis ter is the former pastor of the Linwood Presbyterian church in Gastonia. The visiting minister next Sun day will be Mj\ Bill Frierson, Summer Assistant to Dr. John Brown at the Shelby Prtesbyterian church. The Rev. and Mrs. J. Trent Howell, Jr., and Jeff are on va cation this month. Circle No. 1 of Shiloh Presby terian church met with Mrs. Fred Cockrell Monday afternoon. Circle No. 2 met in the Ladifes Parlor at the church Tuesday evening with Mrs. Roy Houser as hostess. On August 23rd there will be a joint supper meeting of the Men and Womtei of Shiloh church. The Rev. Frank Monroe, con eluded his pastorate at the First Baptist church Sunday evening. The Rev. and Mrs. Frank Mon roe and family moved to Green wood, S. C-, Tuesday, where he will bfe pastor of a church. The following circles met to gether in the First Baptist church basement Tuesday, August 14: Bostic, Nancy Mteldona, Kathleen Mallory, Fannie E. S. Heck, Mrs. B. A. Harry taught the book “Stewardship Enriches Life.” The Mable Clair Maddry cir cle will meet Thursday, August 16, at 7:30 with Mrs. J. D. Shaw. Mrs. Elmer McMurray will teach the book “Stewardship Enriches Life.” The flowers wtere furnished by Mr. and Mrs. James Byers in memory of his mother Mrs. Mary Foster Byers, at the First Bap tist Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barrier of High Point were recent guests of Mrs. C. F. Harry. Bill Randall and Clarence Han son have returned to Dallas, Tex., after spending two weeks vaca tion with Mrs. J. L. Randall and Miss Annie Randall in Shelby ahd Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Randall here Mrs. Dewey Montgomery had the misfortune of breaking a toe on her left foot last week. The following visited Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Shuford Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Black of Chterry ville, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bell, Pat and Buddy of Belmont, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Shuford, Brenda and Trudy of Gastonia. A. G. Dillingham and son Ver non of Atlanta spent the week end with Mrs. Lola Dillingham. Vernon remained to' spend this week. Miss Odbssa Moss of Gastonia, Mrs. Ben Brooks and sons Brant ley and Dale of Hickory spent last wekend with Mrs. W. A Moss. Sunday guests of Mrs, VV. A Moss and Mrs. Mildred Holli field were Mr. and Mrs. L H McNeely of Morganton. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Spanglei and daughters visited Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Spangler in Shtelb> Saturday. Miss Dorothy Ann Gibbons a student nurse at the Baptist hos pital in Columbia, S. C., spent the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Gibbons. Jack Herndon president of the Grover Lions club attended a meeting in Gastonia Tuesday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bush and daughter Jo Anne of Clarkston, Ga., visited the Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Craig at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Hardin Wednesday evening The Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Craig and daughter are spending this week at Montreat. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Jones of Shelby spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. D. J Montgomery. A. D. C. and Mrs. Brevard Go forth and children we he recent guests of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goforth, they were enroute to Memphis, Tenn., after spending some time in Riverside, Calif., Seattle, Wash., and Cana da. While here Mr. and Mrs, Go forth and children and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Goforth and child ren spent a few days at Myrtle Beach S. C. Goforth will be as signed to overseas duty when he returns to Memphis. Major James Hardin who has been visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Hardin left Monday for New York where he embarks for two years service in Germany. Mrs. Hardin will join him later. Bobby Herndon has received his discharge from the Army after a tour of overseas duty. Bob Priester received his dis charge from the Air Force Thurs day at Roswell, New Mexico. He plans to enter Clemson College this fall. Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Montgomry have received word from their granddaughter in Weston, Mo., that she has been in a hospital there with rheumatic fever. Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Moss and children Steven and Vickie were recent gusts of Mr. and Mrs. Clyd Rhea. > Misses Sally Davis and Maiy Louise Ellis spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Davis and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ellis. Cobia Goforth of the Citadel in Charleston, S C., spent the week end at home, coming especially to attend the wedding of his brother Ray Goforth to Janet Paige on Sunday.
