Annual Reunion Held

Annual reunion of the Major
Hugh Borders clan was held Sun
day at Antioch Baptist church,
near Grover, and reelection of
all officers featured the clan
meeting.
Officers are J. Austell Graham,
of Earl, president: Harley Gaston,
of Belmont, vice-president; Miss
Gwendolyn Crawford, of Earl,
secretary, and J. Austell Craw
ford, of Earl, treasurer.
The clan voted to hold their re
union next year at Lake Craw
ford. Mr. Graham, who conducted
the business meeting, read a let
ter from Mrs. Sallie Black La
men, of Chattanooga, Tenn.,
granddaughter of the late Major
Borders. Mrs. Lamon, 81, is un
able to attend the annual re
unions and the reading of a let
ter from her is a feature of the
clan meeting.
Mrs. Robert Doggett offered
the invocation, and Mrs. Warren
Starnes, of Rock Hill, S. C., and
Mrs. J. V/hitfield Lee, of Wilson,
presented a program of music.

Miss Mildred Dettmar and Blair
Stuart, both of Gastonia, exohang,

Gastonia’s Chapel Lutheran,
church.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Clyde Dettmar of Gastonia,
is the granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Baxter Smith, of Kings
Mountain.
Rev. Hoyle Whitesides, minister
of the church, read the ritual for
the couple.
The bride wore a two-piece blue
linen suit with white and blue ac
cessories. She carried a white Bi
ble topped with a white orchid
from which extended satin
streamers.
Mrs. Stuart was graduated
from Gastonia high school, and
prior to her marriage was em
ployed by Souther.! Bell Tele
phone company in Gastonia.
