New York City Monday after vi
siting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John Ross and her brother,
John L. Ross, who will leave for
overseas duty soon.
Mrs. Daisy Lee Smith had as
her guest last week her sister
in-law, Mrs. Ella Smith Carter,
of Philadephia, Pa. Mrs. Carter
made several calls to see and
chat with some of her friends
whom she has known for many
years. She returned to her home
Monday.
There will be a fish fry and
weiner roast Friday night at the
home of Mrs. Eugenia Brown on
the lawn, given by the Secret Sis
ters Society. The proceeds will

With October 1st bills the Kings Mountain Natural Gas Department will
adopt the regular city utility policy on DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS.
Service will be disconnected in all instances where gas bills are unpaid
after the 11th day of the month. The recpnnection fee will be SI.
No gas service will be reconnected for use if gas patron has an ar
rears bill.

Woman Changed
After Shooting
Mrs. Mivinie Crosby, Negress of
route 1, Kings Mountain, was
charged with assault with a dead
ly weapon following the shooting
of another Negro, Robert Ogles
by, at the Crosby home last week.
Oglesby was shot three times
with a .22 caliber pistol, and is a
patient at Kings Mountain Hos
pital. His condition is not con
sidered serious.
According to reports, the in
jured man had been ordered a
way from the Crosby home by Mr.
Crosby, and when he returned,
Mrs. Crosby fired at him five i
times with the pistol.
Oglesby is charged with assault
on a female, and trial of the two
cases is expected to be held as
soon as the wounded man is re
leased from the hospital. Mrs.
Crosby is free under $200 bond.
