A most interesting program has been planned for this special meeting. Rev. J. Trent Howell, Jr., and M. I. Hardin attended the K. M. Presbytery 'at the Goshen church in North Belmont Tuesday. The general meeting of the W. M. S. meeting was held at the First Baptist church Tuesday ev ening. Vacation Bible School will b« held at Shiloh Presbyterian chur oh May 30 through June 7 at 8:3C a. m. The flowers were placed In the First Baptist church Sunday by Mrs. J. L. Herndon and family in memory of Mr. Herndon. A dedication Service was held at four o’clock Sunday afternoon at the G. O. C. Watch Tower. Civ. il Defense Director, Dr. R. P Anstett officiated at the service. Other guests were Russell C. Ni cholson and Lt. Col. James A. Brennan, U. S. Air Force, G. O C. Coordinator for N. C. Also the local Boy Scouts. The local tower will be connected 'by phone with the Charlotte Filter Center. It is planned to have the post manned 24 hours daily in order that planes flights may be spotted and reported to the filter center. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Pinnix, former resi dents, has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship to study at Oberlin college in Oberlin, Ohio. Rev. Pinnix is a former pastor of First Baptist church here. Young Pinnix has been a student of Stewart Pratt, professor of pi. ano at Meredith college, for the past four years.
