Ken Baity, ace lefft-hallf, wem tor both tallies, while Mike Wart toed the lone extra point. A little rough in (places, tht Mountaineers weren’t overconfi dent, which nearly caused tht upset of the season in last year’s Yellow Jacket-Mountaineer tilt. Pushing across tallies in tht first and fourth quarters, tht Mountaineers held the Yellov Jackets scoreless, with only i cauiple of serious threats during the game. Baity scored Mountineers firs' tally in the last minutes of tht first quarter on a two yard plun ge over right guard with firs; down and goal, to go. He ther came back in the fourth quartej to add another 6 (points to tht victory iby going six yards through center, after a series oil first downs on a 39 yard march. (Bessemer City won the toss and elected to receive, defending the north goal. The game was underway with a 50-yard kick off Iby Chip Thor burn. Strutt took the Ball on his 10 yard line and returned to the 29. Three plays failed to gain a first down and Bessemer City punted. Smarting from the 20-13 Moun. taineer victory last year in which Baity romped for a pair and 'Curt George for one, the Indians will be out to scalp the Mountain men. They will be looking for their first win over Kings Moun tain in over three yeaTS. At press date, the West Meck lenburg roster and starting line up had not been received, but a good contest can (be expected. Kings (Mountain football fans will ibe glad to 'know that meas ures axe (being taken to relieve the congestion at the main gate at City Stadium on football nights. (Mayor Glee A. Bridges, in lea gue with Lawson Brown, has put a plan in action to erect a single entrance gate just to left of the main one. The single gate will ibe for the use of persons with reserve seat tickets, adeviating the necessity of waiting in line. Mr. (Brown also stated that he will sell tickets to students at school on Friday afternoon.. They too will use the single gate, tak ing that much more congestion from the main gate.1 The gate, slated to ibe in oper ation Iby 'Friday night’s game, Bowling Leagues Started Action Kings Mountain’s bowlers saw action last week with three leagues starting play. The Monday night Kings Moun tain Men’s Duckpin League start ed with four teams participating. They are the Alleycats, the King Pins, the Keglers, and the Inde pendents. High scorer in the league was Albert Brackett with a 367. This mark copped high in his team the Independents. Ran. die was high in the Keglers with a 321, Clarence Plonk was high for the Alley Cats with a 351, while Barber took top honors in the King Pins team with 343. . Wednesday night’s play in the Lithium Corporation League found Rumney leading both1 the league and his Maintenance team iwith a 308. High in production was Hamrick with 274, while Rob inson led the Staff team with 289 and Bridges, the Lab team with 277. The six team Sportsman league, with play on Thursday night, was led by Brackett with a 368, which was high' score in the Foote team. Blanton led the Champions with a 318, Plonk, the Hillbillies with 344; Lowery the Wildcats with 328; Barber, the Outcasts with 326, and Herndon the Cotton Pic and punted to the Bessemer City 33, where the ball fell dead. A Yellow Jacket dff side penalty was refused. Harmon nefted 3 yaTds but two passes by Strutt fell incomplete, not without the efforts of Ken Baity, one long pass nearly being intercepted by Baity. The Bessemer City boys failed to gain ground and lost the ball on dawns, Kings Mountain tak-. ing over on the Bessemer City 39 yard line. Baity took the ball for a 16 yard sprint to the Bessemer 23 for a first down, Blanton follow ing with a through center 12 yard run. On the Bessemer 11 the Mountaineers couldn’t be stop ped from another tally as Baity went five yards on the first play,. Baity then romped through cen ter for six yards and his second tally. Mike Ware’s kick for the extra point was good and the Mountaineers led 13-0. Thorburn came in again to kick 6ff, and his 31 yard boot was taken by Ken Falls and re turned to the Bessemer 49 yard line. Two passes fell incomplete and the Yellow Jackets were left stranded on their 49 yard line when the final gun sounded.
