Gaines and contests were con. ducted after which the hostesses served pink and white cakes with salted nuts, and pink lemonade. Gifts for the honoree had been arranged on a table covered with I a white cloth. The hostesses also remembered Mrs. Atkinson with! a corsage. Bolton-Whetstine Vows Exchanged Miss Myrtle Whetstine and Lloyd Clayton Bolton, both of Kings Mountain, were married the evening of September 7th. at 8 o’clock in Gaffney, S. C. Probate Judge W. R. Douglas officiated aft the ceremony. The bride wore a light blue street-length dress with white ac. cessories. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Char, ies S. Whetstine of Kings Moun tain, Mrs. Bolton attended Kings Mountain higH school and is em. ployed at a Belmont hosiery plant. Mr. Bolton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Van Buren Bolton, of Kings Mountain, was graduated from Grover high school and is employed by Southern Life Insu rance Company, Shelby. Mr. and Mrs. Bolton are resi ding on West Gold street in Kings Mountain. Garden Club Heard Program On Iris At Wednesday Afternoon Club Meeting Kings Mountain Garden club members heard a program by Mrs. S. A. Oscar and Mrs. Susie McIntyre, both of Charlotte, at the garden club’s regular meeting Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. J. A. Neisler was hostess at her home. The program featured the topic, “Neighborly Gardening”, and Mrs. .Oscar, president of the Charlotte ■ris Society, [pointed to the use of Iris in the garden as a means of enhancing the color and 'beauty of a garden. She was assisted by Mrs. McIntyre, Charlotte home demonstrator, in showing color slides of some of their prize-win ning garden Iris. Mrs. George Houser was pro gram chairman and presented the speakers. Mrs. P. G. Padgett, club presi. dent, presented an outline of the year’s program and discussed the work of the various club com mittees. SHe also announced date of the Woman’s club annual flo ral fair, “Autumn Harvest” and club members voted to prepare an arrangement of chrysanthe mums on a study of flowers de picting cheerfulness. The floral fair will be held here on October 16th at the Woman’s club. The arrangements featuring' compositions for outside refresh, ment tables were prepared by Mrs. M. A. Ware and Mrs. J. E% Herndon. Mrs. Herndon’s arrange ment won the blue ribbon, and the red ribbon went to the ar rangement 'by Mrs. Ware. Mrs. Neisler served a salad course with accessories. Miss Patsy Brooks Married Sunday To Bill Carrigan In Church Rites Miss Patsy Brooks and Bill Carrigan, both of Kings Moun tain, were united in marriage Sunday in a 12 o’clock wedding in East Side Baptist church. Rev. Carl Green, pastor of the churcH, officiated at the double, ring ceremony. Palms and white glads decora ted the church and formed a back, ground for the exchange of vows. Miss Kay Mitcham, of Spindale, was pianist and played the tra ditional wedding marches, ‘‘Bri dal Chorus” from “Lohengrin” by Wagner and Mendelssohn’s “Wed. ding March” from “A Midsum. mer Night’s Dream” in addition to other selections played prior to the ceremony. The bride and groom entered the church together. The bride’s gown of white chiffon and net over taffeta featured a fitted bo dice and bouffant ballerina-len. gth skirt. Her fingertip illusion veil was attached to a matching fitted headpiece and she wore lace gauntlets. She carried a white Bible topped with white camat tions from which1 extended ribbon streamers. Ushers were Ed Waters and Al. bert Huffstickler, both of Kings Mountain. The bride’s mother wore a Cin der gray street-length dress with winter white hat and accesso-' ries in white.
