Jfcif/t/ IfUaabeth Stewart, Editor Couple Honored At Cakecu+ting Miss Kathryn Ann Ware and John Ronald Kincaid, whose wed ding was an event of Thanks giving Day, were honored after their wedding rehearsal last Wed nesday evening at a cakecutting at the home of Mr. Kincaid’s par ents in Bessemer City. Hostesses for 'the event, attend, ed by some 65 guests, were Misses Sara, Jane, and Penny Kincaid, sisters of Mr. Kincaid. Decorations in mint green and yellow were featured throughout the Kincaid home. In the dining room, the bride’s table was spread with lace over yellow taffeta and held the decorated yellow and green five-tier wedding cake or namented with miniature bride and groom. Tapers were used in silver candelabras, and arrange ments of yellow chrysanthemums also provided decoration. Mrs. William S. Eaker, of Gas tonia, cut and served the cake, and lime punch was poured by Mrs. Bill Kincaid, of Stanley. As. sisting in serving and entertain, ing Were Mrs. L. P. Miss Phyllis Jones and Car veth Wells spent Sunday in the mountains and toured Asheville, Lake Lure, and other scenic spots. They returned Sunday afternoon. Covers were laid for nineteen and guests included Miss Ware’s wedding attendants. A rose and blue color scheme was observed in the decorations of snaps, car nations, and baby’s breafh. Nov elty place cards were used, and favors of miniature rice bags con taining miniature lipsticks were given to the guests. Dinner including tomato juice, tossed salad, chicken and dress ing, rice and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, candied yams, pumpkin pie, and coffee was ser ved. The honoree wore a light blue, printed taffeta sheath and a white carnation corsage, gift of the hostesses. Gifts from the bride-elect were presented to her bridesmaids and honorary brides maids. Bride Elect Honored At Party Recently Miss Gaynell Scruggs, bride-e lect was honored at a linen show er given recently by Mrs. Erskine Watterson, Mrs. Bobby Porter, and Mrs. Eugene Tignor in the Fellowship building of Grace Methodist church. Bridal games were played with prizes awarded to the honoree. Miss Scruggs, whose wedding to Gene Lail will be an event of December 15, wore a rose full skirted princess style party dress with a white carnation corsage, gift of the hostesses. The refreshment table was de corated with a cornucopia fruit arrangement and ivy streamers. Sandwiches, potato chips, cup cakes, and coffee were served to the 17 guests who remembered Miss Scruggs with gifts of linen. Mrs. Taylor Honored By Margrace Club Members of the Margrace Wo man’s club honored Mrs. Gene Taylor, member of ‘he club, at a shower Friday night. Games were directed by Mrs. John Mitcham with prizes award, ed to the honoree. The hostesses, Mrs. Roy Spake, Mrs. George Stroupe, Mrs. John Caldwell, Mrs.- John Mitcham, Mrs. George Sellers, and Mrs. Lawrence Blanton served deco, rated cupcakes with potato chips, sandwiches, and coffee. JOHN RONALD KINCAID Miss Kathryn Ware Married Thursday To Ronald Kincaid In Church Ceremony ‘In an exchange of vows Thurs. day evening at eight o'clock in First Baptist church, Miss Kath ryn Ann Ware and John Ronald Kincaid were united in marriage. The Rev. Aubrey T. Quaken. bush, minister of the church, per. formed the Thanksgiving Day wedding in a double-ring cere mony before wrought-iron can. delabra holding cathedral tapers and a fan-shaped arrangement of white gladioli accented by gold chrysanthemums used on the al. tar against a background of Ore. gon palms and emerald ferns. Miss Sara Houser, of Kings Mountain and Winston-Salem, was organist, and James Chas. teen, of Bessemer Ci*y, brother, in-law of the groom, was vocalist for the program of traditional music. Organ selections included "I Love Thee” by Edward Grieg, "O Promise Me” by Reginald DeKo. ven, “Adantino” by Edwin Le mare, Schubert’s “Ave Maria”, "Evening Star” by Wagner, “Lie bestraum” by Liszt, and the class, ic marches, "Bridal Chorus” from “Lohengrin” by Wagner and Men. delssohn’s “Wedding March” from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Mr. Chasteen sang, “I’ll Walk With God’’, “Because”, and the benedictional selection, Malotte’s “The Lord’s Prayer.” The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding gown of imported Chantilly lace over net and bridal satin. The dress featured a low neckline ac cen’ed by yoke of illusion outlined with clusters of seed pearls and jaonicas. The off-shoulder long sleeves formed points over the hands, and the fitted bodice ex tended to a point in front joining a full gathered skirt *hat ended in an aisle-wide train. Her finger tip-length veil of imported silk illusion was outlined in matching lace and was caught to a prin cess crown of seed pearls. Her bouquet of bronze cymbidium or chids was carried on a white lace, covered Bible from which were attached satin streamers. Miss Martha Lou Ware attend, ed her sister as maid of honor, and bridesmaids included Miss Jane Kincaid, Miss Sara Kincaid and Miss Penny Kincaid, all of Bessemer City, sisters of the groom, and Miss Jerrie Lea Mc Carter, of Kings Mountain. The attendants wore formal gowns of romance blue nylon sheer and net over taffeta. The dresses were styled with fitted bodices created of alternating rows of miniature ruffles and silver lurex braid and were ac cented at the waistline by crush ed taffeta cummerbunds which draped to the backs to form large bustle-bows. Folds of net form ed brief cap sleeves, and the bouf. fant skirts were accented by rows of sheer ruffles underscored with silver lurex braid and finish ed around the bottom with deep net dust ruffles. White formal length gloves and blue sequin princess crowns completed their ensembles. They carried cascade bouquets of bronze pom pon chry santhemums nestled in blue flock ed gypsophilia and blue metallic ribbon. Little Miss Sara Beth Simpson, cousin of the bride, was flower j girl and wore a white floor-length dress with short white gloves and carried a basket of flower petals. I Pete Ware, young brother of the bride, was ringbearer. and Ton-' nie Ware, brother of the bride, ‘ lighted the altar candles. Honorary bridesmaids included Mrs. L. F. Barker, Jr., of Besse mer City, sister of the bride, groom. Miss Evelyn Cloninger, of, Dallas, Miss Lyvonne Lindsay, of j Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Char les Alexander, of Kings Mountain and Charlotte. Ira Raymond Kincaid, of Besse. mer City, was his son’s best man. Ushers included Jamie Washam, of Kannapolis, Bruce Ross, of Spruce Pine, Dan Mitchell, of Statesville, college roommates of the groom, and William I. Kin caid, of Stanley, brother of the groom. Presiding at the guest register were Mrs. James Chasteen and Mrs. Roy Rhyne, of Bessemer City, sisters of the groom. Mrs. Ware, the bride’s mother, was gowned in blue lace with which she wore elbow-length white gloves and a corsage of red roses. The groom’s mother, Mrs. Kin caid, wore a light blue formal length gown with white gloves and a red corsage of roses. Mrs. Kincaid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Howard Ware, of Kings Mountain, was gradu ated from Central high school in 1956 and is employed in Bessemer City as secretary in the engineer, ing department of Ideal Indus tries, Inc. She made her debut in 1966 at the Shelby Junior Char ity League’s Sub-Debutante ball in Shelby. . Mr. Kincaid, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Raymond Kincaid, of Bessemer City, is a graduate of Bessemer City high school and is a senior at Appalachian State Teacher’s college, Boone. He will do his practice teaching in the high school at Dallas during the winter quarter. The couple received wedding guests in the church vestibule and lete for a wedding trip. For traveling, Mrs. Kincaid wore a brown wool sheath dress with biege accessories, a brown mou ton coat, and the orchids from her bouquet. After a trip through the South ern Stages, the copple will reside in Bessemer City with the groom’s parents on West Virginia avenue. Among wedding- guests were Mr. and Mrs. W. Contract Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. Fulton Members of the Contract Bridge club were entertained at the home of Mrs. W. S. Fulton, Jr. on Ridge Street, recently. Mrs. Hal Plonk was high scorer with Mrs. Hugh Logan, second high. The hostess served a dessert course with coffee. Dick Webb of Kings Mountain will be an event of December, wore for the occasion a black watch plaid full-skirted party dress. The honoree was presented a silver berry spoon by the hos tesses. A yellow color scheme was ob served in the decorations of chry santhemums and camellias ar ranged at the base of a candela brum containing yellow tapers. Other decorations in the predom inating color decorated the liv ing and dining rooms. High scorer at bridge for the evening was Mrs. Paul Neisler, and Miss Polly Page won the consolation prize. Mrs. I. L. Moore, of Charlotte, mother of the bride-elect, and Mrs. R. H. Webb, mother of Mr. Webb were among the guests. Out-of-town guests included Miss Prudy Moore and Mrs. David Neill, both of Charlotte, and Mrs. Dick McMackin, of Chapel Hill.
