Sc take a seat in the shade, with your favorite cold drink and make your favorite cold drink and make notes with me"— From my vantage point I car see three bad spots in the lawn These must be given attention this fall. The soil has been test ed and needs added organic matter, aeration and re-seeding, Some of the shrubs, Burfordi holly, flowering quince, ligus strum and others, are outgrow ing their locations and should receive corrective pruning. Ma> have to take some out and re place with something better suit ed for the location. The flower border on the east side of the house needs re-work, mg. A planting is needed on the west side of the house to .serve as a screen, or windbreak and snow barrier. Could use either ligustrum, hemlock or white pine. Too many trees were saved and now it is hard to cut ithetm clown. Will have to think this over. Will probably decide to re move some because of excessive shade and competition for mois ture and nutrients. Several terraces need .stabili zing with a suitable ground cov er — ivy, periwinkle ophiopogon, pachysaridra, creeping juniper. The perennials in the vegeta ble garden need attention — as paragus, strawberries, rhubarb, black and red raspberries. The list may-seem endless but it is worthwhile if you plan your work and work your plan.
