The high school met In the gym last week to elect Miss Beth ware. All the senior girls were el igible. The lucky girl was Barba ra Yarbrough. Barbara Is a pret ty brunette, with green eyes. She is active in school work, a cheer leader, a member of the science and College Club. She is also the Senior attendant in the home coming. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Yarbrough of route 3, Kings Mountain. The second six weeks period ends this week, so many tests are toeing given. Report cards will be given out next week. The Bethware bail games are well under way now with three games out of the way. They are only playing practice games now, but December 1st the conference games start with Bethware play ing Boiling Springs at Boiling Springs. Both ball teams hope to have a successful year. The Monogram and College Clubs are very much excited a toout going to Clemson Saturday. Those going are: Barbara Yar brough, Jean Moore, Kim Cash ion, John Caslhion, Jerry Morris, Eddie Herndon, Joe Fite, Ken neth Cash, Lawrence Bolin, Tom my Barrett, Billy Wease, Jerry Patterson, Gary Fisher, Bobby Biddix, Ruth Blalock, Linda Moore, Janice Yarbrough, Karen Horn, Frankie Hamrick, Janice Ware, Becky Bolin, Joyce Falls, Carolyn Whetstine, Judy Hoop augh, and Lynda Herndon. Mr. Bond Sales Aze Climbing The people of North Carolina responded to the higher interest rate of 3 34 percent now being paid on Savings Bonds toy increa sing their purchases. During Oc tober, statewide sales of Savings Bonds, Series E and Series H combined were up 6.3 per cent ov er sales of last October. The Series H bonds showed the strongest increase, with sales be ing 23.6 per cent greater than they were in the same month of a year ago. Series E bonds were up 4.6 per cent. Cumulative sales for the year amounted to $38,750,065. This is 76 per cent of North Carolina’s 1959 goal of $51,000,000. Cleveland County sales for October were $51,090.85 bringing the total sales for the year to $296,971.75. Six counties have already a chieved their sales quota for 1959.
