Singing Tree Music Highlight Of Yule Season With performances scheduled for December 13 and 14, Char lotte’s “Singing Christmas Tree” will celebrate its fifth anniver sary as the musical highlight of the Piedmont Carolinas’ holiday season. The Charlotte Choral So ciety and Thte Charlotte Observer sponsor the annual event for benefit of Observer Charities, Inc. The spectacularly staged pro gram, which has received inter national attention, will be given in 2,500-seat Ovens Auditorium at ■8:15 p. m. . More than 90 members of the Choral jSociety will perform Christmas anthems, carols and spirituals from a 27-foot circular platform constructed in the shape of a igigantic Christmas tree. Stage settings, completely revis ed for the 1960 production, will depict the “Tree” in a ^eries of mountain scenes, including the Swiss Alps and the Great Smok ies. Tickets may be purchased at two locations in downtown Char lotte: the National Hat Shop, 114 S. Tryon Street, and the lobby of The Observer, 600 S. Tryon Street. Prices are $1.50 for adults and 75c for children. No seats are reserved.
