Churchwomen Hold May Fellowship Day Kings Mountain church women who attended May Fellowship Day sehvices Friday afternoon at First Presbyterian church heard a discussion of the theme, ‘‘Who Is My Family?'' by Mrs. Cal Fisher, Bible teacher in the schools. . Mrs. Fisher called for unity by the “whole family under God” as She called attention to the na tion-wide observance of Christian Family Week which began Mon day. FISHER Missionaiy Fisher To Speak Sunday At Resurrection Church The Rev. Carl M. Fisher, miss ionary - under - appointment to the Malaya School of Missions, will be guest speaker at Sunday morning worship services this week at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Rev. Fisher is partially sup ported in the missionary field by Resurrection ohuirch. Born February 4, 1933 in Lex ington, he is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Roy L. Fisher of Lo gansport, Indiana. He married the former Mirian Eleazer on June 21, 1959. The Fisher’s have one child, a son, Cairl, Jr. Rev. Fisher was pastor of Trin ity Lutheran Church, Concord, until he received the call from the Board of Foreign Missions at the June, 1961 session. He will enter the Malaya miss ionary field in June. IA graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College with an AB degree in history, he also holds a BD de gree from Lutheran Theological Seminary, Columbia, S. C. Mis. Wylie's Rites Conducted Funeral rites for Mrs. Docia Cornwell Wylie, 77, who died Saturday, were held Sunday at 5 p. m. from Pleasant Hill Bap tist churdh of Which she was a member. Rev. James Hudson, assisted by Rev. Dale Thornlburg, officia ted, and burial was in the chur ch cemetery. A native otf Cleveland County, Mrs. Wylie was daughter of the late Mir. and Mrs. J. J. Cornwell. She was first married to George Shehan who died in 1916. She is the widow of Clarence Wylie. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Burle Nolen of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Ed Cooksey of Elkhart, Texas; one son, Mish er Shehan of Lawndale; three step-daughters, Mrs. R. L. Pear son and Miss Roberta Wylie, both iof Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Paul England of Gastonia; and one brother, Edgar Cornwell of Blacksburg, S. C. Flight grand children also survive. Listed were four crashes, all involving unusual circumstan ces. Young Phillip Strickland, 4 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Strickland, was listed as the technical driver of an au tomobile involved in an accident Friday at 7:00 p. m. on McGinnis Street. Young Phillip was in the fam ily oar outside the Strickland re sidence at 114 McGinnis Street, released the brake and the car rolled down the street, striking a parked car belonging to Bob Morrison. Morrison resides at 115 Mc Ginnis Street. Police chief Martin Ware in vestigated the accident for Kings Mountain Police department. Property damage was negli gible and no injuries were list ed. A second accident Friday oc curred at 11:20 p. m. on Gaston Street and involved a car which was driven, until a few seconds before the accident, by Boyce Wayne Butler, 509 South North Street, Bessemer City. Butler said he had stopped the oar and gotten out near the in tersection of Gaston and Moun tain streets. The car rolled down Gaston Street, striking a tree in front of the residence of Miss Janie Jackson. Investigating officers J. D. Banrelt and Martin Ware report ed damage to the bumper and grill of the car, but no estimate was listed. A Monday crash on Mountain Street at 11:20 a. m. involved cars driven by William Henry Morgan, 1616 Shelby Road, and R. D. Goforth, resident of E. King Street. Investigating officer P. R. San ders reported Morgan had stop ped on Mountain Street and op ened the door to get out of his automobile. Goforth, advancing along Mountain, struck the door with front bumper of his vehic le. Damage to ithe Morgan car was listed at $65. Damage to the Goforth car was listed ait $10. 0. D. Ware made the police log with an accident involving a firetruck Tuesday ait 11:29 a. m. on W. Mountain Street. Fireman Ware was going to a fire on Cansler Street and side swiped a car parked in a no parking zone on the wrong side of the street. The vehicle, owned by O. O. Walker, was damaged in the a mounit of $60. Investigating officer was P. R. Sanders. We live in a mixed-up society.
