Holder is holding a revival meeting at Lavonia Baptist church near Gaffney, S. C., this week. 'Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lovelace, Mr. and Mrs. David Gibbons, Mrs. Q. V. Phil'beck, Mr. and Mrs. John McKinney and their famiiili es gathered at the home of Mrs. Mamie Gibbons Saturday evening and held a cook out in celebra tion of her 72nd birthday. It was planned as a surprise for her by her children. Mr. and Mrs. Oran 'White of Charlotte spent the weekend with Mrs. White’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Blanton. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weaver and Su san were Sunday guests. They all enjoyed a trip to Norman’s Lake near Lincolnton in the af ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Love lace, Miss Dianne Lovelace, Ste ve, Ricky and Jeff of Asheville returned home Wednesday oven - ing after spending a few days with Mr. Lovelace’s parents, Mr. I and Mrs. T. C. Lovelace. Mr. and Mrs. Laibon Thorn burg and son, Steve, of Willough by, Ohio, spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Bell. Mr. and Mrs. Don Blanton, Jimtmy and Donna, visited Mr. Blanton’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A D. Blanton of State Line com munity near Gaffney, S. C, Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Canipe returned home Monday after an overnight visit with Mr. Can ine’s sister, Miss Juanita Canipe, of WadeSboro. The Rev. and Mrs. Arnold Bell Dennis and Revonda, of Lenoii spent last week visiting relatives in this section. When they return ed home on Saturday. They were accompanied by Mrs. Sam Bell and Miss Gail Bell, mother and sister of Rev. Bell who are spen ding this week in Lenoir. •Mr. and (Mrs. T. C. Lovelace spent last Sunday night in Char lotte with their daughter, Mrs. Wayne Putnam and Mr. Put nam. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Randall spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bayne Randall, Tommy and A1 at Lake Lure where they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Randall and Nancy of Hender sonville. Mr. and Mrs. Erskine Ware and Judy spennt the weekend in the mountains visiting places of interest. They spent Saturday night in Asheville Mr. and Mrs. F. C. (Ware, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Stone, Jr., and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Web ster and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Menzell Phifer and family at tended a picnic at Lineberger Park in Gastonia Saturday ev ening planned toy Miss Daisy Hawkins in honor of her broth er, the Rev. W. Luther Haw kins and Mrs. Hawkins of Cam den, S. C. Rev. Hawkins, is a former pastor of Oak Grove. Miss Fay Ware of Bethlehem spent the weekend with Miss Kathy Ware. The Rev. and Mrs. Holder went to Winston Salem Tuesday Where Mrs. Holder underwent a check-up at the Baptist Hospi tal. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Philbeck of Bessemer City announce the •birth of a son, John Christopher, on Friday, August 3. Mr. Phil beok is the son of Mrs. Q. V. Philbeck of this community. . •Mr. and Mrs. John O.
