any benefits because they are
making over $1200 a year, Bark
ley said.

case of a man who has averaged
$1800 in annual income since
1950. He is eligible to receive
about $73.00 a month in social
security payments. However, be
cause he is continuing to work
in his regular job after his 65th

ceive any payments. Actually,
this maw could get a total of
$523 if he applied for it.

now. No payments can be made
to you unless you apply for
them. Delay may cost you mon
ey because no claim for social
security can go back more than
one year.

tains a chart which shows how

tal of $297,360.00 in social secur
ity benefits. This means that
during the year of 1961 over 31s
million dollars was received by
residents of Cleveland County
from social security. Of the total,
2,640 were receiving $165,557.00
per month for old-age insurance
benefits; 354 were receiving $27,
961 per month for disability
benefits; 876 wives and depend
ant husbands were receiving
$25,659 per month; 1,118 children
were receiving $40,544 ; 479 wid
ows and dependent widowers
were receiving $26,399; 220 mo
thers were receiving $10,371; and
15 dependent parents were re
ceiving $869.
