C. — Fiber In dustries, Inc. announced today that it has selected a 200 aero tract near Greenville, South Ca rolina as the site for its new plant for the manufacture of Nylon 66 yarn. Peter H. Conze, Chairman of Fiber Industries said that initial construction work at the Green ville site, which is located on in terstate highway 85, ahout six miles southeast of the city hall will start during the week of Oc tober 20. Fiber Industries organized ori ginally in 1958 as a company owned 50 percent each by Cela nese and Imperial Chemical In dustries, Ltd., of Great Britain, has been producing polyester fi ber at its Shelby, North Carolina plant. Plans recently announced provide for Celanese to own 6212 percent of Fiber Industries with I. C. I. to own 25 percent, and the remaining 12 Vi percent to be held by British Nylon Spinners Limit ed also of Great Britain. The Nylon 66 yarn plant at commercial production in 1965, Greenville is expected to begin with an initial capacity of 40 mil lion pounds per year. The yarn will be marketed by Celanese Fi bers Company, which also mar kets Fiber Industries’ polyester fiber under the trademark For trel. The nylon yarn will toe mar keted for apparel, carpet, tire cord and industrial applications. Mr. Conze pointed out that the interchange of technical know ledge and operating know-how with I. C. I. and British Nylon Spinners not only provides Fiber Industries with an extensive background of experience in the manufacture of Nylon 66, but al so will expand the Celanese fi bers line, which currently in cludes four other major man made fibers.. .acetate, rayon, Ar nel triacetate and Fortrel poly ester. Mis. Black's Fathei Passes Carl Kimhrell, 60, of Gaffney, S. C., died last Thursday in the Cherokee County Memorial hos pital after a month of serious ill ness. He was the father of Mrs. Bill Black of Grover. Final rites were held at 3 p.m. Sunday from Mt. Paran Baptist church, burial following in the church cemetery. Mr. Kimbreil had lived in the Mt. Paran community for 18 years. He was a member of the Mt. Paran Baptist church and was employed toy Wendell Plas tics of Blacksburg. Other survivors include his wife, two sons, four brothers, two sisters and eight grandchild ren. Barkley, Social Security Ad ministration District Manager in Gastonia, reminded employers to day. It is important that social se curity tax returns be filed on time and that they be complete. They must show the correct a mount of earnings paid each worker during the quarter and his correct name and social se euhlty number. Otherwise, the worker and his family may not be fully protected in the event of the worker’s disability, retire ment, or death Earnings of employees of a business must be reported each quarter regardless of the amount of wages paid.
