At a minting of the Progres - sive Club Monday night in the Bethware cafeteria new officers were chosen for the New Year: Harold Hord was elected presi dent; Grady Seism, vice-president Bobby Wan*. Secretary. John O. Patterson, Treasurer and Russell Putnam, assistrant treasurer. Retiring president. Willard Boyles, presided and introduced l Judge Jack White of Kings .Moifit tain who installed the new offi 1 cers. The Rev. Richard Plyler of Patterson Grove led the group in singing Christmas carols and John O. Patterson presented pen and pencil sets to ail the past presidents from the club. Wives of the members were special guests and a delicious supper was served by the women of El Beth el Methodist church. Mr. aid 'Mrs. Donald Blanton. Jimmie and Donna, accompanied by Mr. .and Mrs. A. B Blanton, of Gaffney. S. C. visited relatives in Cleveland. Tenn., during the week end. They expected 10 re-j turn home Sunday afternoon but due to the cctidit inns of the roads, ice and snow, they came only as far as Asheville where they spent the night. Abrs. Donald Blanton was host ess to her Sunday .School class of young women at her home FYi-j day night with husbands as spec ial guests. A covered dish supper was served followed by an hour of fellowship. Instead of ex changing gifts each member con tributed foods and toys for a needy family Next Sunday. Jan. 5. will be Rally Day at Oak Grove. The goal for the day is 300 in attend an.-e at Sunday School and ISO at Training Union. Student Night was observed at the worship hour last Sunday, night. Those taking part in the program were Misses Nadine Bell, Saundra Horn, Betty Jo Evans. Judy Blanton and Brenda Blanton with special music by Mrs. Don Horn and the choir. Don Horn, ministerial student, brought the message. A Christmas party was held at the church Friday night for the Girl's Auxiliary and their leaders, with parents ol the members as special guests. Informal games provided entertainment. At re freshment time hot chocolate, chickrti salad ar.d pi men to-cheese sandwiches, potato chins and cookie* were served.
