Patrick Spangler, on the heels o( his brother-in-law's an nouncement as a candidate for the House of Representatives, withdrew from his race for the state Senate Wednesday. Mr. Spangler's withdrawal < ur rently leaves Kilims Mountain's Jack II. White, who was oppos in" Mi. Spangler. unopposed foi the Democratic nomination to the 31st district Senate seat. Mr. Spangler’s brother-in-law is H. Fields Young. Jr., Shelby businessman, who announced he would seek the House seat Mon day. Mr. Spangler’s statement was plain: II he regards his views on |M>liti<-s. business and govern inent so completely opposed to Mr. Young's as to preclude their successful joint representation of teveiand County; and 2) it is r. Spangler's conviction that embers of the same family, even when only related by mar riage. should not attempt to serve in the (leneral Assembly at the same lime. Mr. Spangler, a Shelby citizen, has been an industrial citizen of Kings Mountain for more than a decade, through Spangler's Rea dy-Mix Concrete, a firm in which lie is an officer and stockholder.
