Currently sponsoring an all-ou . campaign for new harvesters for the Migrant camps of North Car-1 nlina. churchwomen niv asked to; bring complete books of S & 1 Green Stamps to the district ga- i thering. Each harvester will be. made possible with 1000 complete ' books of stamps. Complete books j of other stamps will be used for equipment and large toys used in the playgrounds of the Mi-1 grant Child Care Centers. A harvester is a station wagon j type bus-shell on wheels when received by the Migrant Council.' It is to be furnished with an al- ' tar. an organ, bonks and nec- ; essarv equipment to «-onduet re-' ligious services and classes. Many j of these furnishings may be ac quired with completed books of! stamps. The 1963 project "Dolls for the Migrant Children” was a success. This year the Department of Un ited Church Women is concerned that the harvesters will he ser viced and maintained once ae-' quired. Vilagers Entertain With Folk Songs At Anniversary Banquet, Husband's Night The Junior Woman’s club held its 20th annual anniversar>' han quct and Husband's Night Mon day night. Highlight of the event was a musical program of folk songs by The Vilagers. a five-member band of Kings Mountain high school student? Vocal numbers, music on the guitars and hanjo solo by Gary Byars wet> featur ed. Member* of The Vilagers are Debbie Hurl hut. Don Hurlbut. Jacky Rhea, Philip Wright and Gary Stewart. The high school students also gave their version of "Hootenany In Other Iainds” to the delight of the large audience attending. Present as visitors were Mrs. R. \V. Hurlbut, Mrs. Clyde Rhea of Grover. Miss Ann Buchanan, student teacher in the home eco nomics department at Kings Mountain high school and Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Mauney. Lohr Speaks To Homo Arts Club Lawrence Lehr, re ired text hook salesman for the nationally known publisher Harcourt, Brace and World, and veteran of 35 years in this field, spoke to mem bers of the Home Arts club Tues day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Philip Padgett. Mr. Lohr gave antecdotes illus trating the pressures nut on text >ook publishers by special inter est groups and dis played several history' texts some of which, pub lished by his company, are cur rently in use in North Carolina schools and some rare editions of North Carolina histories discard ed by the state because ol error* and or prejudice. He told of the Wairen tex* which although adopted by the state was said to have 1.000 er rors. It was subsequently dis ca*-ded. and 110.000 copies wer burned. Mr. Lohr discussed the N.
