25th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur Limbaugh celebrated their
25th weddinq anniversary January 8th by renewing their
marriage vows at their home on Gastonia highway.
Rev. Grier Hawltins of Roanoke. Va. officiated and
over 50 quests attended. C. J. Gault was pianist for the
ceremony and Mrs. Paul Byers cut and served the wedding
cake.
Overlaid with white cutwork cloth, the refreshment t$
ble held a three-tier cake as central decoration. White roses
and white chrysanthemums were used at one end and punch
was served with the cake.
Among guests were these from out-of-town: Mrs. R. D.
Phillips, Mrs. Millie Forrester, Greenville. S. C.: Rev. and
Mrs. Grier Hawkins, Roanoke. Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hicks,
Mrs. Dorothy Lowery and Miss Frances Hicks. Bessemer

Mrs. Zee F ills Dellinger and J. D. Hord were married
Saturday in a 4 p.m. wedding at the home of the bride
groom s nster. Mrs. C. D. Ware and Mr. Ware.
Dr. Paul Ausley, pastor of First Piesbyterian church,
heard the exchanoe of vows in the Dresence of the couple's
immediate families.
The bride wore a jonquil yellow wool suit with white ac
cessories.
Both the bride and bridegroom are Kings Mountain
natives. Mrs. Hord is employed by Belt's Department Store.
Mr. Hord has retted after serving as a highway engineer
for many years.
Mr. and Mrs. Hord are at home on Chapman Lake

Southeastern Flower and Garden Show in Charlotte March
6-14 may purchase their tickets from members of the Town
and Country Garden club.

remaining ingredients. Pour into

Dr. Johnson was a member of
the staff which made a sociologi
cal survey of St. Helena Island
near Beaufort. S. C.. and was •
collaborator in the Carnegie
Myrdal study of the Negro in
America. For 10 years she was
research associate in the Insti
tute for Research in Social Sci
ence in the University of North
Carolina.
For several years, beginning in
1945. she was executive secretary
of the Go >rgia Conference on
Soiial Welfare in Atlanta where
her husband. Dr. Guy B. Johnson

ment. was doing research.
Mrs Johnson has taken an ac
tive part in the civic life of Cha
pel Hill in recent years. Aa a
volunteer she was community
service member of the Chapel Hill j
Rationing Board during the last j

the Chapel Hill Office of Civilian
Defense and collector of war
records for Orange County. She
is author of two books in the
field of cultural history, and her
doctoral dissertation received the
Smith Research Award at the
University at Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Johnson is former chair
man of the Board of the Nation
al Publicity Council, past first

In 1955 she was the recipient

North Carolina.

Educated at Baylor University,
the University of Missouri and
UNC. she lectured at Rhodes
University in Grahamtown. South
Africa in 1960 and held a Ford
Foundation grant in tour of edu
cational institutions in Africa.
She and her husband made a
world tour from 1959-60 and in
15161 Mrs Johnson was a mem
ber of the Phelps-Stokes .study
tour of West Africa.
