Many of them en|oyed visits from triend and k,n. Others treked with families to the beaches and moun tains. * ♦ ♦ * Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Madison and daughters. Kath erine and Mary Randolph, are here from Petersburg, Va. for a visit with Mrs. Madison's sister, Mrs. D. F. Hord, Dr. Hord and family. Mrs. J. B. Keefer is just back from a visit with her daughter and family in Petersburg. 4 ♦ % ♦ Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bridges and family are vacationing in New York City and Washington, D. C. They expect to spend some time at the New York World s Fair. ★ % ♦ ♦ L Cp!. David P. Hughes returned Monday to New Cumberland, Pa. after a holiday visit with his parents, Mr. end Mrs. Gordon Hughes, Jr. + + ♦ * ' Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Humphries, their daughter, Ger ry, and Rev. and Mrs. Claude Henson and son of Dallas are leaving today for a 10-day vacation wi.-h relatives in Texas. Enroute home they expect to visit Rev. and Mrs. J. Fade Anderson in Mississippi. Mr. Anderson is a former summer supply pastor of Dixon and First Presbyterian church. While the Humphries family are away, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Humphries of Gastonia will stay with other members of the family, Roger and Bade Humphries. * * * * Mrs. Jennings Cannon and daughter, Connie, are here from San Francisco, California, for a visit with Mrs. Can non's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Quay Hambright. Mrs. Can non is the former Lucille Hambright. * * * * Mr. and Mrs. Coy Barnette of Statesville and Miss Pearl Barnette of Goldsboro were weekend visitors of Mr. and Mrs. John Styers, coming especially for the Styers- Bridges wedding Sunday. + ♦ ♦ * Mrs. Ben T. Jackson and four children, Leigh, Kim, Bud dy and Jill, are here from Boston, Mass., for a visit with Mrs. Jackson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Davis. Newest member of the Jackson family is two-month- old Jill Davis, born May 6th to'Dr. and Mrs. Jackson. Mrs. Jackson is the former Jean Davis. * ♦ ♦ + Sgt. and Mrs. Ray Carroll, Edwin and Timmy, spent the Fourth holidays with Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Farris and Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Carroll, returning to Sumter, S. C. late Monday. Paul Farris, brother of Mrs. Carroll, returned home after spending a week v/ith them. * * ♦ * Miss Pattie Howard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Howard, enrolled last weekend in eight weeks' summer school at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. ♦ * ♦ * Klwanis President W. S. Fulton, Jr., Mrs. Fulton and sons. Corky and Carl, and Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Franklin are in New York City this week attending the Klwanis Interna tional convention. The Fultons are combining a business and vacation trip and also expect to visit the World's Fair before returning home Saturday. * ♦ * * Mr. and Mrs. Bun E. Goforth and Mr. and Mrs. Jirr White spent last week in Park Ridge, N. J. and New York. In Park Ridge they visited Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Goforth and daughter, Donna. They also visited the World's Fair. The New Jersey Goforths will arrive here this weekend for a visit with the Bun Goforths, parents of Eddie. * + * * Miss Becky Yarbro has accepted employment with the U. S. Government in Washington, D. C. doing civil service work. She is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Yarbro. Mrs. Grace DiSabato has returned to Washington, D. C. after a three-week visit with her parents, the Jesse Yarbros. Mr. and Mrs. James L. Guyton are back home after a vacation in Washington, D. C. * ♦ * Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. John Caldwell and sons, John and David, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ray Hughes and sons, Ray and Mike, and Mr. and Mrs. George W. Sellers and son, George, Jr., were among Kings Moun tain citizens spending the week at Ocean Drive Beach, S. C. They returned home on Saturday. A rising senirr at Salem college, she was Sweetheart of Delta Sigma Phi, the prosiiecti’e bridegroom's fraternity 'when he was‘the fraternity gresident in 19iiJ-ii4- She was also a Red Shield Girls club volunteer and a member of the Salcmite newsi>ai>cr staff. Mr. Edwards is ,n. 19i;i graduate of Wake Forest college and is a member of the Haskins and Sells accounting firm of Charlotte. The u-edding will take }ylaee September 11 in First Presbyterian church.
