Shelby Woman's club's annual bazaar will be held
Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the clubhouse.
On sale will be handmade articles, Christmas decoratioins,
home baked and home canned foods and clothing items.
Each of the club's five departments will maintain a
sales booth. Luncheon will be served from I I a.m. until 2
p.m. in the club dining hall.

Dena Chree Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean
Bowen, celebrated her first birthday Tuesday. Her great-
aunt, Mrs. George Stroupe, entertained Saturday at a par
ty for eight young guests at the Stroupe home at 210 Mar-
grace.
A pink and green birthday cake was topped with one
candle. The cake was served with ice cream to Gina
Stroupe, Jody and Rodney Deaton, Tammy Barrett, Kim,
Chris and Karen Barrett and Sheleen Bailey. Alsa attending
were Mrs. Robert Ledford, Miss Bernice Bowen, Mrs. Ellen
Bailey, and Dean's grandmothers, Mrs. W. G. Bowen and
Mrs. A. B. Barrett.
Young Miss Bowen is granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
W. G. Bowen and Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Barrett. The Dean
Bowens recently moved from Tyeson, Arizona to a home in
the Patterson Springs community, route I, Grover.

Registration for Fall dance classes will be held Friday
from 2 until 5 p.m. in the former Masonic Hall in the D. M.
Morrison building, Mrs. Sue Colvin, manager of Colvin
fcSehool of Dance, announced this week.
Lessons in tap, ballet, jazz, baton twirling and ballroom
dancing will be available.
Mrs. Anita Brown will also serve as an instructor.

South Carolina, she will be
honored along with many
others from high schools
within a lOO-mlle radius of
the college. She will else
spend a v/eekend in March
as guest of Winthrop. Miss
Morris was chosen on the
basis of scholarship, leader
ship, attractiveness, and
character.
A junior at KMHS, she participates in the FTA and the
Science club. She is also First Vice President of the Future
Homemakers of America and a cheerleader.
She Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Morris of
303 Waco Road.

Bride-Elect Honored
Miss Gloria Hull, whose engagement to Michael
Hughes is announced this week, was honor guest Saturday
at a drop-in shower given by Mrs. Gerald Hughes, Mrs.
Evelyn Wright and Mrs. Mary Bell Ramsey at the Hughes
home on Katherine avenue.
The 40 guests showered Miss Hull with miscellaneous
household gifts.
A color note of green and white was carried out in
decorations and refreshments.
The bride-to-be wore a gold sheath wool dress with
white carnation shoulder corsage.

Kings Mountain Chapter of Erskine College alumni will
gather Monday night at 7 o'clock in the fellowship hall of
Boyce Memorial ARP church, Mrs. E. W. Neal, president,
said.
A covered dish supper will be served.
Junior-Senior high school - age young people will be
guests as well as Charles Carlisle, business manager, and Dr.
Tunis Romein, professor of philosophy, at the Due West, S.
C. institution.
Family Reunion Held
All 12 children of Mr. and Mrs. R. Theodore Huffstet-
ler gathered at the Huffstetler home in the Bethlehem com
munity Sunday for a family reunion.
The 48 present also included a number of grandchil
dren. Picnic dinner was spread.

Highlights of fhe clubyear were reviewed by club lead
ers and 4-H'ers. Present as special guests were Henry Dam-
eron, assistant county agricultural agent, and Miss Ann Yar
brough, assistant home economics agent.
A covered dish supper was served before the program.
Tables were covered with white cloths and decorated with
autumn foliage, berries, pumpkins and flowers.
Comings And Goings
Mrs. Lallage Falls returned to work Tuesday at Mon-
taido's in Charlotte after being out sick the past three
weeks.

Miss Jo Ann Falls returned to Lumberton Monday af
ter spending the weekend with relatives. Miss Falls is head
nurse on floor of "special services" at Southeastern Gen
eral hospital in Lumberton.

Mrs. Eva Wease left by plane Tuesday for Springfield,
Mass, to visit her son. A' 1C Billy R. Wease, and daughter-
in-law, Patricia Herndon Wease, who is ill. Mrs. Wease
plans to remain in Springfield about two weeks. Mrs. Billy
Wease is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Herndon.
