ROY PHILLIPS . . . note Golden Wedding Day Mr. and Mrs. Roy Phillips cele brated their golden wedding day Sunday at a reception ^iven by their 11 children at their home at 3 Bennett Drive. Over 100 friends from Kings Mountain, Shelby, Gastonia, Bes semer City, Dallas, Marion, Blacksburg, S.C., Columbia, S.C., and Winnsboro, S.C called be tween 2 and 5 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lefevers, Mr and Mrs. Frank Phillips, all of Kings Mountain, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Phillips of Bessemer City, all members of the family, made up a hostess committee for the affair. Other children of the Phillipses are Mr. and Mrs Thomas Phil lips, Bill Phillips. Mrs. Ruby Helms, all of Kings Mountain, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Phillips and Mrs. Mearl Norwood of Bessemer Cit.v and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Phillips of Gastonia. The 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren-—aiso^-^ssist- ed in details of entertaining. Overlaid with yellow tablecloth, the refreshment table was deco rated in 50th anniversary colors of gold and white. The four-tier gold and white cake was central decoration for the table. The cake was cut and served with green punch Fall flowers in • yellow and white were used throughout the home. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Evans Ross cele brated birthdays this month. Rhonda Renee Ross was four-years-old on Friday, No vember I 1th. Her brother, Rodney Evans Ross, will cele brate his first birthday on Friday, November 18th. Decorated birthday cakes will be cut and served with party refreshments to members of the family on Friday. The family party will be held at the home at 109 Center Street. Grandparents of the children are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Conner and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ross, all of Kings Mountain. * * * jit Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Dixon announce the marriage of their daughter, Becky Lynn, to Jeffrey Lynn Patterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Patterson. Both families are of Kings Mountain. The wedding took place November Nth in York, South Carolina. Mrs. Patterson is a senior student at Kings Mountain high school where she will continue her education. The bridegroom also attended Kings Mountain high school. The newlyweds are at home in Kings Mountain. Miss Nancy Lublanezki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Lublanezki of Kings Mountain, recently pledged membership to Nu Chapter of Lambda Kappa Sigma, pro fessional sorority for women in pharmacy, A sophomore enrolled in the College of Pharmacy of Drake Un iversity in Des Moines, Iowa, she is also a mem ber of the legislative body of Women's Interdormitory Council. * * * * Dawn Elizabeth Morris, daugh- l"er of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mor- '"is, celebrated her firth birth day Monday at a family earty held at her home on Shelby road. |i The birthday cake, topped with Disneyland characters, was centerpiece for the re freshment table. Burch and Margaret Rhyne, Clubs Meeting Mrs. C. J. Gault, Jr. gave the program, "Getting Ready for Christmas", at Wednesday's Open Gate Garden club meeting at the Country Club. Mrs. Wilson Crav/'iord was hostess and served a salad and dessert. Arrangements for shut-ins were featured in displays made by the members. Specimens of berried shrubs were also exhibited. + * * * Virginia Gaither Herndon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Herndon, celebrated her Nth birthday at a Halloween "progressive" party which culminated v/lth a pajama party at her home on Edgemont Drive. The five girls gathered for refreshments at the home of Virginia's maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hayv/ood E. Lynch. The table was spread with a Halloween cloth and centered by a pumpkin. Popcorn filled a green basket and a brass candelstick held tall tapers. Pumpkin-shaped sand wiches were also served. Mr. Lynch conducted a quiz game as entertainment, and ghost stores were told by Stella Lee Neisler and Laura Plonk. , The Halloween cake was cut at Virginia's home at 9 p. m. and her birthday gifts were opened. Mrs. Sellers Hostess To Margrace Clubwomen Mrs. George Sellers was hos tess Friday night at her home to members of the Margrace Wo man’s club. , Miss Grace Blanton conducted the evening devotions and Mrs. J. O. Barber presided. Plans were discussed to hold the annual Christmas party at Helen’s Rest aurant in Besserner City next month. Eight members of the hostess group came away with top prizes in the tournament, including Mrs. Margaret Ward, Mrs. Charles Mauney, Mrs. Carl Mayes, Mrs. Hoyle D. McDaniel, Mrs. D.
