The educators heard an ad dress by Dr. George Schweitzer, chemistry professor at the Uni versity of Tennessee at Knox ville, speak on the theme, “Edu cation, Science and the World Crisis.” Kings Mountain Superintend ent Donald Jones gave the invo cation. Count-In P-TA Program Set RALEIGH—Count-In for PTA. Schools across the state will be staging a mass count-in for PTA during the month of October. Governor Dan K. Moore met to day with state PTA Membership Chairman, Farrell Roberts of Burlington, N. C. and proclaimed October, PTA Membership month in North- Carolina. Governor Moore stated in his proclamation: I am pleased to call attention of the citizens of North Caro lina to the continuing need for a close relationship between home and school. The moral support given teachers by par ents and the understanding be tween them that is so neces sary for the benefit of the stu dents both are benefits derived from membership in the North Carolina Congress of Parents and Teachers. The Congress is to be highly commended for efforts to increase its mem bership throughout the state.. C. area selected to appear in the 1967 edition of “Outstanding Civ ic Leaders of America.” Mr. Foster is son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Foster of Kings Moun tain and grandson of S. R. Suber and the late Mrs. Suber. He recently was promoted from i the position of supervisor of the; mall terminal at Columbia, S. C. to training officer and is receiv ing training in Miam, Fla.
