‘ Our Town" To Be Staged At G-W College BOILING SPRINGS Thorn ton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize win , ning OUR TOWN will be pre sented Thursday, Friday and Sat urday at the E. B. Hamrick Au ditorium at Gardner-Webb Col lege. The 8 p.m. performance each evening will feature actor-in residence Herbert Woofter of Washington, D. C. Woofter works With Gardner-Webb College stu dents under the direction of C. Robert Jones, head of the col lege's 'drama department. The world-famous play about life in a small New England town in the early years of this century is a beautiful and mov ing theatrical experience. A cast of 23 wdll present the play with several area persons involved. Among these are Dar rell M. Allison of Boiling Springs, '■ Brenda Crosby of Boiling Springs, ' Gerald Grigg of Fallston, and Charles and Ronald Mack, both of Boiling Springs. The latter | two are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mack and are students at Boiling Springs School. Char les is in the seventh grade and Ronald is in the fourth grade. Ronald Young of Concord, ! plays Dr. Gibbs, the role which i is next in importance to the j Stage Manager role played by Woofter. Young is a sophomore major who won the "Best Ac tor" award last year for his per formance in THE MTRACLE WORKER and QUEENS OF I FRANCE. He also played Henry ; Alberston, the Shakespearean actor, in the Shelby Community [Theater presentation, THE FAN I TASTICKS. Young has also ap 1 peared in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, THE BOOR, LOOK HOMEWARD ANGEL and is the author of FOR US ONE ELSE, a one-act play. The first performance of OUR TOWN took place at the Mc Carter Theater in Princeton, N. J. in 193S, and in that same year it was produced in New York at the Henry Miller Theater.
