He earned the medal for service as an aircrewman while attached to Air borne Early Warning Squadron ONE (VW-1) flying EC-121 Super Constellation aircroft. Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TWO, the West Coast's oldest Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron, is currently based at Navol Air Station Imperial Beach, California in training for its next Western Pocific deployment aboard the aircraft carrier USS HORNET (CVS-12).
