day night at a drop-in bridal shower held at the home
of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Calvin Humphries, on West
Gold street.

A color note of pink and white was carried out in
decorations and refreshments. The 40 guests shovyered
the bride-to-b'e with miscellaneous househokf-gifts.

with dyed-to-match slippers and

Concorf Series To Open

tra "In A Viennese Night" will open the 1968 concert
season November 9th of the Gastonia Community Con
cert Association.
All concerts will be held at 8:15 p.m. in Hunter
Huss high school auditorium.
Mrs. John O. Plonk, Jr. of Kings Mountain
member of the Class of 1970 board of directors.
Other concerts scheduled include: Ronald and
Jeffrey Marlowe, pianists, on Saturday, Dec. 7th: the
Norman Luboff Choir on Friday, March 21; and the
Oratorio Singers of Charlotte on Monday, May 5th.
Mrs. Walter Griffin of High Point, daughter-in-law
of Mr.'and Mrs. E. W. Griffin of Kings Mountain, scor
ed a blue ribbon or first prize on a pressbook she enter
ed for the High Point Junior Woman's club in recent
district competition there.

Spooks and goblins will cavort at a carnival to be
held at Bethware school on Halloween night, October
31st. Plans for the carnival were announced by Ray
mond Holmes, chairman of the Bethware P-TA commit
tee On arrangements. ; ; •
The carnival, featuring games, contests, and re
freshments, will be held from 7 ifntiflP p.m. in the school
gymnasium. Admission is 10 cents per person. There'will
be no admission to children under six. Prizes will be a-
warded the best-costumed. -•
