John Richards McCrae is the director of the opera
which will feature Maria Ferriero of New York City in
the title role. William Olvis, leading tenor of the Met
ropolitan Opera, will sing the role of Lt. B. F. Pinkerton.
A free youth matinee will be held on Saturday aft-
ernoofi, Nov. 9th, at 2:30 p.m. in Ovens Auditorium.
Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. Seats will be available on
a first-come-first-served basis and the performance is
open to school children and groups of junior and senior-
high students in the Piedmont Area.

Mr. and Mrs. Toney Wells announce the birth of a
son, Bryant Toney Wells, Jr., who arrived October 18th,
Gaston Memorial hospital, Gastonia. The baby's grand
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Wells and Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Ware, all of Kings Mountain. The newest addi
tion is Grandchild No. 18 for Mr. and Mrs. Wells and
Grandchild No. 10 for Mr. and Mrs. Ware.

Mrs. Ellen Petrosino spent the weekend in Winston
Salem at the Children's Home, going especially for the
homecoming football game between the Fighting Meth
odists of the Children's Home and The Vikings of Stokes
high school.
Mrs. Petrosino visited her grandchildren, Mike,
Pamela and Teresa Huffstickler. Mike is a member of
the Fighting Methodist team.
Mrs. Clarence L. ju v, Sr. spent the weekend in
Charlotte with Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Jolly, Jr. and sons
and Mr. and Mrs. John Caune and three children. C. L.
Jolly, Jr. is son and Mrs. Caune is a daughter of Mrs.

Mrs. Bob Stringfellow will present a program fea
turing slides of Gaston Oral School for the Deaf at
Monday's meeting of the Junior Woman's club at 7:30
p.m. at the Woman's club.
The club recently presented a $150 scholarship for
a pre-school student to attend the school.

er, the bride wore a formal gown
of silk peau de soie that she dc-
sigmM and made. The bodice was
styled with a bateau neckline
traced with jci.veled handelipped
lace medallions. The dome skirt
and cathedral train were also em
broidered with jeweled lace me
dallions. Pe.au d’ange lace and
lace motifs outlined with pearls
bande;| her mantilla of English
tulle. Her bouquet was a cascade
of wliite orchids, roses, Hahns
ivy and Baker fern.
