C. — Final prepar ations have been completed for the Moward Creek Volunteer Fire Departments Western Carolina Championship All Night Old Time Fiddlers Convention and Buck Dance Contest. The event will be lield Thursday night, July 3, at the Cat Square Opery, Vale, N. C. Actual competition is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Seasoned fidiers, banjo players and old time music fans are ex pected to overfill llu? opery build ing for the events this year which will bo the third annual. Invita tions have been extended to 350 groups from N. C., S. C., Ga., and Tenn. Last year the convention attracted 19 groups from the states of N. C.. S. C., and Ga. With the festival just a few days away many performers have al ready given assurance that they will be present to enter comp<qi lion. He was a mem- her of Grace Methodist church. _ He was married to the former ^ssie Gantt of Kings Mountain. Page 5 Attack Fatal To Reid, 24 Funeral rite.s for Leroy Reid, of 103 Carpenter street, w'cre held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Ebenezer Baptist church, interment follow* inig in the church cemetery, Mr. Reid died Friday at 12:30 of an ai parent heart attack. Surviving are four sisters and a brother, all of Kings .Mountain. They are Mrs. Sally Chambers, Miss Betty Reid, Miss Virginia Reid, Miss Princie Reid, and Thomas Reid. Rev. R. D. Lueas and Rev.
