I A patent entitled "Stabilization | of Secondary Alkyilithium” was issued to Dr. C. W. KamiensW (Director-Onjanic Lab), Dr. R. O. Bach (Manager-Research) — both of Gastonia — and W. S. Leon- hardt (formerly of LCA and a resident of Bessemer City). This patent covers how the stability of sec-butyllithium can be increas ed by the adding of isopropyllith- ium. This comes into importance! when the product must be stored! for a prolonged period of time or! must be shipped over great dist-| ances. I Another patent has been issued* to Dr. C. W. Kamienski, C. B. Morrison (Research Chemist) — both of Gastonia and A. C. Dies ing (formerly of 'LCA). This pat ent "Preparation of Solutions of Lithium . Hydrocarbon Com pounds” explains that the pres ence of organo lithium comp-ounds promotes and catlyzes reartion of lithium metal dispersions to form other organo lithium compoiunds. This patent should make it possi ble 'for many chemists to utilize dispersions of lithium on a broad er scale.
