The nine children, 18 grand- ehildren and six great-grandchil dren of the cou])le wer(' hosts for the party attended by over 100 friends and ndatives. Receiving with their parents were William (Bill) Wells, Miss B(>tly Wells, Toney Wells, Boyce Wells, Mrs. Harley Gore, all of Kings M(junlam, Mrs. Nellie God frey, Bobby Wells, Mrs. Shirley Hplshouser, all of Charlotte, and Bethel Wells of Greensboro. The refreshment table, high light of decoration, was overlaid with lace over yellow satin and held a tall three-tiered columned cake in yellow, white and green. For the reception Mrs. Wells, the honoree, wore a navy blue suit with a corsage of yellow rosebuds. Longtime residents of Kings Mountain, .Mr. and .Mrs. W’ells are active in Victory Baptist cjiurvh. Arrowoods Had Yule Party On Sunday Jeff and Mcrinda Arrowood, who are in a foster home tem porarily, spent the weekend with their grandmother, Mrs. Fate Ar rowood on Lending Street. Mr.s. Arrowood had a delayed Christ mas party for them Sunday. A family dinner was served and the children were presented their toys from Santa Claus and from relatives. Moving pictures were taken of the children as they opened their gifts, and later while they were at play. Gifts front relatives were also present ed to the hostess, who observed a birthday anniversary January 12, and she pre.sented them with late Christmas presents. Present were Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Gunnells and Miss Peggy Gun nells of Shelby, Jeff and Merinda and Miss Lana Arrowood and the hostess. Scott Crawford of Mt. Holly, who was visiting his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Craw ford, spent a while with Jeff, too. Little Elizabeth Arrowood 'was not present for the party, but gift.s were sent to her. Sunday night Mr.s. Arrowood had Mr. and Mr.s. The aunt of the bridegroom was attired in a red wool dress with black accessories and a w'lite corsage. Bride-Elect Anita Sweezy Honored Thursday Mi.ss Anita Sweezy, whose wed ding to Robert Phifer of Kings Mountain takes place .Saturday in Lawndale, was honored last Thursday at a drop-in party held at the home here of Mrs. Dwain Lynch. Contestants from all over the state competed for the awards. Lisa also holds a first place trophy for Special Beginner Twirling for 1969. She Is a member of Drum Majorettes of Am erica and is a student of Mrs. Linda Horn In Shelby. Lisa is a seventh grade student at Central school, ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Mrs. Raymond Holmes of Kings Mountain was elect ed chairman of the program committee for 1970-72 of the Pioneer Girl Scout Council and three Kings Mountain Girl Scout leaders — Mrs. Herman Cash, Mrs. Robert Green and Mrs. Floyd Queen, were hon ored for five-year-service at the annual meeting Sat urday of the Pioneer Girl Scout Council at Dixie Village Cafeteria, Gastonia. Election and Installation of new officers and pre sentation of service awards highlighted the luncheon meeting. Six adults were presented plaques for outstanding leadership — Mrs. John Gamble, Jr.. Mrs. L. S. Rankin, Jr.* Mr. and Mrs. Fred Upchurch, and Lacy Faust. Mrs. James C. Scruggs of Grover presented the report from the National Girl Scout Council meeting In Seattle, Washington, which she attended as repre sentative of the Council. Senior Girl Scouts reporting on recent Senior Events were Rita Dees of Gastonia who attended a visual arts workshop In Kansas. Ann Hinkle of Belmont who saw the Apollo Xil launching in Florida, and Patti Prather of Belmont who attended 'Archery" workshops In Alabama. Senior Scout Kathy Love of Belmont recapped for the group a three-day camp for disadvantaged girls sponsored by the Coun cil last summer.
