The altar of the church was ar ranged with palms and candela bra holding lighted tapers. At the center of the setting were two baskets of all-white flowers. Given in marria»;:e by her fa ther. the bride wore a formal gown of embroidi^ed silk organza ov er i^atin with long billowing sle(*ves enhanced with covered buttons on the cuffs and down the hodi'ce. All the bridal attendants wore formal gowns of hyacinth lilac piquante designed along similar lines to the bridal gown wi't'h long billowing sleeves and hce encircliiij) the bodice. They wore matching headdresses and slippers and carried white lace- covered Bibles topped with or chids. The Junior bridesmaids and flower girl also wore lU-ac gowns •and earned lace baskets of flow ers. The bridegroom’s father was best man. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Lingerfelt of Sanlando Springs, Fla. The bridegroom’s mother is t.he for mer Miss Margaret Ellison of Kings Mountain. He is serving with the United States Air Force. Rev. Lewis D. Haines heard the exchange of vows, using the dou ble-ring ceremony. The altar of the church was banked wdth white glads and mums and light ed by cathedral candles in two w*rougbt-iron candelabrum. Mrs. Cthel Sullivan of Altamon te Springs, Fla. was organist for the program of nuptial music. Thomas Haines of Gainesville and Mrs. Helen Wjsocki of Alta monte Springs sang a duet. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal bri dal gown of Alcncon lace over bridal taffeta designed with long sleeves and scalloped neckline of sequins. Tiers of lace tulle cas caded down the front of the gown. The skirt extended into a brush train ol lace. Her headpiece was a net veil with satin bow trimtmed (Continued On Page Two) Mr. and Mrs. F. Mrs. Oaune Was score- keeper for tile tournament and Mr. Oaune look pictures of the teams and assisted in tourna ment activities. Chris was a firsJt baseman and Tom was a catcher. Mr. Caune, a native of Latvia, played on the Feathers’ team versus the Sons’ in a ‘Tun” game which the youngsters won. The youngsters said ithey won, liow- ever, with the lielp of the par ents wlu) had all played ball. Some mothers and fathers like Mr. and Mrs. 'Oaune, 'weie um pires. All other games wren’t played “for fun”, as all eight teams ii\'ere trying hard to carry home the handsome engraved championship trophies which the YMCA pi'esen'ted and the coveted Outstandinjvg player auard. Following the “ibig" champion ship game between the Ants and the Wa*^;ps. the mothei's enter tained the group at a swim par ty at Shannon Park Swim and a cookout was held for all the Lomilies participating at Methodist Home I^'k in Char lotte. Following th^ “fun” game between the Feathers and Sons, a watermelon slicing was held. Wednesday the Caune children joined other Chariotteans for a bus trip to Banner Elk, Beech Mountain and "The Land cf Oz." "There are parts for ail ages In this show and we cordially invite anyone who would like to participate to do so," said Mrs. Bob Cox, president of the Little Theatre. Mrs. Jo Ann McDaniel Is directing the production. Mary Ruth Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bridges, celebrated her first birihday August 10th. A family party was held at the Bridges home and a decorated birth day cake was cut and ser ved with party refresh ments. ' Mary Ruth is grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde J. ABOUT THIS 'N' THAT Miss Susan Lowery and Richard White, whose wedding takes place Friday evening at 7 p.m. in Beth lehem Baptist church, were honored Saturday at a cookout given by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kiser and their son, Danny, at their home on Waco road. Hamburgers and hotdogs were grilled and served with accessories from picnic tables on the lawn. Home made Ice cream was churned for dessert. Yellow mari golds decorated the lawn tables. The hosts presented the engaged couple a gift of stainless steel. silverware.
