Junior halfback Scott Crawford, a 180-pounder, si)arked the Bel mont victory by scoring two touchdowns and also playing a bang-up defensive game. Crawford got the hosts started with 3:30 left In 'the first qua;rh?r when he scooped up a Get^fjer Howard fumble and rambled 50 yards for a touchdown. Arx-urate Joey Metz booled the extra point to put KM behind 7-0. From that point on, the Moun taineers suffered a letdown and tile offense never could get go ing again. Actually, the Mountaineers got nff to a fine start but fumbles I killed two Mountaineer drives. Kings Mountain took the open ing kickoff and drove to midfield before Mike Kelly of South Point nx-overed Howard’s fumble on the Railier 41. South Point ran only three plays and -punted and KM drove again to the 50 where Ilo^vard ifunibled again, and C lawford look it in for the score. The Mountaineers couldn’t move the ball following the en suing kickoff and had to punt. Crawford returned it to the KM 15 and the Raiders moved to the four before losing the ball on downs. The period ended 7-0 but Craw'-, ford was back at it again in the ■s(‘cond stanza, going 69 yards off tac'kle to give the Raiders a 14-0 <Hlge at Intermission.
