Miss Zeldia Anna Hope became
the bride of William Barry Can
on Friday evening, the wedding
solemnized at eight o’clock at the
home of the bride’s sister, Mrs.
Pauline Kimbrell.
The Rev. E. O. Gore was offi
ciating minister and a program
of wedding music was'presented
by Mrs. Gale Hope, organist.
Mrs. Doris Grigg, sister of the
bride, was interpreter for the
bride.
Daughter of Mrs. Maggie Hope
of 608 Mauney Avenue and the
late George Hope, the bride is a
graduate of the North Carolina
School of the Deaf in Morganton.
She is employed by Duke Power

The bridegroom is the son of
William Carr of Charlotte and

a wedding gown of ivory peau de
soic fashioned on sheath style
with a saibrina neckline, long lace
sleeves and a lace-enhanced bod
ice. Her veil was caught to a
pearl-clustered headpiece and she
carried a cascade bouquet of
chrysanthemums and snaps cen
tered with a white orchid.
Miss Judy Neville attended the
bride as maid of honor and she
wore a floor-length gown of pas
tel blue taffeta and carried a sin
gle stemmed carnation.
Miss Bridget Carr, niece of the
bridegroom, attended as flower
girl and she wore'a pastel pink
dross ruffled with white lalce and
carried a white basket tied with
pink bows and holding pink rose
petals.
Frank Carr attended his broth
er as best man and Donald Hope,
brother of the bride, was usher.
The twide’s mother chose a
two-piece ensemble of pastel blue
with which she wore a pink car
nation corsage. The bridegroom’s
mother chose a light blue ensem
ble and also wore a corsage of
pink carnations. The bridegroom’s
grandmother was dressed in rose
pink with which she wore a cor
sage of pink carnations.
Following a brief wedding trip
to the mountains the couple will
reside at the bridegroom’s homo
in Western Charlotte.

honored Miss Teresa Short and
Ronald Stacey at a cakecutting
after their wedding rehearsal last
Saturday evening.
The party for 40 guests was
held at the McGinnis home on
Hawthorne Lane.
The wedding colors of straw
berry and white featured the
decorations. The bride’s table was
overlaid with a cutwork cloth and
held a pillared cake as central
decoration. A silver candelabrum
was set with strawberry flowers,
fern and tapers. Punch and cake
were served by Mrs. James Rob
erts and iMiss Margaret Cornwell,
assisted by Mrs. John McGinnis.

for curbing drug problems. Pres

Chief .McDcvitt spoke on the

Abuse's”, noting that most mari
juana u.«ors begin with barbitur-
at(»s and later an increa<ing num
ber turn to the hallucinative
drugs — resulting in a .-piraling
death rate. In discussing the elan-
gers of deadly drugs, he said
there c(juld be a recurrence of the
“trip" on hallucination with un
predictable results. He brought
out that 85 p<»r cent of addicts
were first marijuana srmokers.

Bazaar Set
November 14th
Date for tho Annual Bazaar at
Sacred Heart college has been set
for November 14. The gala event,
a tradition for many years at the
college, is for the benefit of the
Building Fund.
Aprons, decorations, knit goods
in the form of scarves, afglians,
dolls made by the Sisters will be
on sale, as well as other items
donated by enthusiastic support
ers of tho bazaar. A special fea
ture is the booth which offers
homeimade candy.
As usual the door prize is a
chedt for donated a
friend and well-wisher of the col
lege.
In the way of refreshments,
snacks and treats are to be on
sale all day and an elaborate
dinner offering a variety of de
licious attractions, both cold and
hot, will he served from 5 to 8 p.
m. in the college dining roOm.
Young and old are invited to
attend the Sacred Heart Bazaar
and experience the atjmo.sphere of
feastivity which will prevade on
