Mrs. James Herndon presided at last Tuesday's annual business meeting and luncheon at the Country dub. Highlight of the meet ing was the presentation of a handsome engraved silver tray to Mrs. Sam Rob inson, handicap tournament champion for 1970. Mrs. Charles Mauney, tournament chairman, made the pre sentation. Mrs. Carl Mayes was presented a gift In recogni tion that she scored her second hote-in-one this sea son. Mrs. Mayes, decorations chairman for the lunch eon, had arranged the tables with dolls dressed as women golfers in plaids and paisleys cut from fabric and wallpaper. Centerpieces were arrangements of flowers. A membership drive is currently underway and dues may be forwarded to Mrs. Herre in Gastonia. For several weeks since the Spartanburg Herald began off set printing, the Kings Mountain Herald hos used the services of Palmetto Engraving Company of Greenville, S, C. and Times Print ing of Shelby for engravings. This policy is necessary because several pictures have been mis placed via busing from Green ville, S. C. on Wednesdays ond therefore cannot be published un til a week later. Senior Cii'iiens' Club Sets Luncheon Meeting .A luneheon mooting of the ■Senior Citizon.s club will be held Friday at noon at the Kingts Mountain AVoman's club. AH members are encouraged to attend. The Gastonia Community Concert Association kicks off its annual campaign for memberships on Mon day, February 8. The Concert Association, celebrating this year its lOfh anniversary, is seeking 1900 member ships to finance 1972 concerts. Grayson Kellar, Association President, announced recently that The Young Americans, and The Spanish RTV Symphony Orchestra ot Madrid, Spain, have been booked for two of next year's concerts. The Young Americans, who have performed on many leading television shows and in 13 foreign coun tries, Is a group of high school and college youth, chos en for their combined vocal, Instrumental, dancing, and academic abilities. The Spanish RTV Symphony Orchestra of Madrid, created in 1965 to meet the needs of new cultural dev elopments in Soaln, Is making Its first American tour during the 1971-72 season.
