ARMY, GERMAINY (AHT- NO — William I. Wright, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard S. Wright, Route 3, Box 413, Kings Mountain, N. C., recently was promoted to Army Specialist Five in Germany, while assigned as a mechanic in Headquarters Company, 3d Bat talion, 35th Armor, 4th Armored Eivision. The specialist is a 1968 grad uate of Kings Mountain high school. His wife, Teresa, Is With bias in Germany, , , Teszler Library Dedication Held Sandor Teszler of Spartaniburg, S. C., founder of Duplex Shannon of Kings Mountain and a former Kings Mountain citiien, was hon ored in special ceremonies Satur day at Wofford college in Spar tanburg, S. C. The Sandor Teszler Library was formally dedicated in his honoi at 2:30 p.m. ceremonies. Mr. Teszler is now associated with Olymphia Mills. While in Kings Mountain he received a • merit award from the City of Kings Mountain "in recognition of outstanding contributions to the growth of the city.” In commenting on Mr. Teszler's contribution to Wofford college, President Paul Hardin, III said: Sandor Teszior was born on Jtme 25, 1903, in Budapest, Hun gary. At an early age he exhibit ed an Insatiable urge for learn ing, especially in the fields eg liUTature and music. Mr. Teszler was graduated by the city (Budapest) .school sys tem at the age of 18, ranking a- mong the first ten on the nation al 1 evel. His matriculation thesis in the field of literature was deemed of sudh excellence -that it was reposited in the national archives. He then entered the Uni versity of Chemnitz (Germany) where ho studied Textile Engi neering. Upon completion of the prescribed curriculum, he joined the mercantile firm cstablisihed by his brother in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. Largely because tit his perceptive ness and initiative the OTlglnal merchandising organization was rapidly transformed Into a tJirlv- ing hosiery manufacturing indus try. .Although -the initial -alctlvltles began under very modest droum- stances, by 1928 the organiza-tlon became of major mdustrial sig nificance, and by 1941 It expand ed into a vertical TSetile indus try encomfxissing fiber manufac- • turing, spinning, dyeiny, weav ing, knitting, and. hosiery plants, as well as ladies’ and men’s un derwear and outerwear manufac turing. However, Mr. Teszler was in vited to join a .se'lert group of In- dustrlallists respoiicltlc for re building the postwar HungarUm economy. (All during this period, Mr. Teszler quietly labored to secure an opportunity for his Childrein to grow up in a free society. In Feb ruary of 1948 he succeeded in leaving Hungary and emigrated to the United States, where he la- gain resumed his business -alotivi- ties and became an outstanding industrliallat In all' of these busy years Mr. Teszler always 5cmi\3 time to pureue his deep love for litera ture and musilc. He always looked for converts to the 'Muse among the younger people and unselfilslh- ly devoted ills time to further their Interest and guide their edu cation.
