It is easy to follow since It calls Ifor moderate changes in eating halhits to help reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke. People who follow a "heart jilet,” the North Carolina Heart Asaoiciation adds, are not forced to give up all their favorite loads. But they Wave to learn to “go easy” on them. How does this diet work? Basically, tlie change involves , Rocommended breads i eating loss, foods with e.vcossive | ^^hole wheat amounts of animal (saturated) ~ • - - fats and cholesterol and eating more foods with vegetable (poly unsaturated) fats. ■ TkMurxno(rr other nutriets. ■ Here are a few basic tips; 1. Egg no more than three egg yolks a wedk. 2. Eat more meals of flSh, veal, chicken and turkey and fewer meals of beef, tomb, pork and ham. 3. Use low-fat milk, and cheese made from low-fat milk. 4. Use margarines (which list h(>uid oil first among ingredients) instead of butter. Substitute poly unsaturated vegetable oils for lard and other solid cooking fats. 5. Each day eat vegetables, fpi.it, cereals art.; breads made with a minimu mof saturated fat. Recommended breads arc white I enriched, whole wheat, Frnch, rtalian, pumprnickel, rye bread and English muffins. A diet that emphasizes butler, ci'eam, eggs, heef; pork, organ meats and Shellfish is high in saturated fats and clioiestcrol «nd tends to raise the cholesterol level .in the iblood.
