Commissioner asked following the first
increase, “How many more secrets are

lina?’’. 'riiis 7.7'i liability hike was fol

These rate increases were made three
weeks prior to the price freeze in July,

MORE ABOUT
Ingram said Hie people were fed up
with the high cost of insurance and that
he would support any responsible plan—
no fault or otherwise — but he has the
best plan. As Insurance Commissioner
he will reduce car insurance by one-
third for every safe driver in North
Carolina.
RepresenIalive Ingram is the only
Candidate not connected with the insur
ance industry. As Insurance Commis
sioner, he will abolish the discrimina
tory Assigned Risk Pool and replace it
with a better fair insurance plan.—No
drunk driver will drive cheaper than a
safe driving youth or anyone else—Each
person will be rated on his individual
driving record—He will reduce substan
tially tile cost of car insurance for every
safe driver in North Carolina.

Your Vote On Satuijay In The County Commission
er $ Race Is IMPORTANT!
IMPORTANT to the question of
whether to hire a County Manager: Dur
ing the time I served on the Commission
Board ,e were able to secure the serv
ices of a county manager and with his
guidance to make outstanding progress
in many areas of county government.
The manager was of tremendous help
in budget planning, in setting up coun
ty personnel rules ad regulations, re
tirement and health insurance pro
grams for county employees, and in rep
resenting the board in matters dealing
with state and federal programs.
I believe that county government
has become so large and so much in
volved that a professional, trained, ex
perienced and dedicated county mapager is a must if our
county is to prosper. I further believe that the division be
tween members makes it impossible for the present board to
hire a firsi-clcss county manager. Therefore, I propose that we
need a board made up of members who will forget differences
and get on with the business of hiring the best qualified man
ager available.
IMPORTANT to you as a ta tpayer in Cleveland County:
With the new property valuati m, the Commission should take
into consideration the financial needs of the county and level
off the tax rate accordingly. I believe that with the new valu
ation and normal growth that it is very possible that the tax
rate could be dropped considerably and still keep the taxes in
line with the times.
IMPORTANT to the continuance of fine Volunteer Organi
zations: I will continue to support all of the volunteer organi
zations in Cleveland County, and I believe that Cleveland
County has the best and most efficient volunteer organiza
tions in the state. The rescue squads are providing excellent
ambulance service to Cleveland County and the traveling
public. Our Volunteer Fire Departments are well equipped
and as fine as anywhere.
IMPORTANT to the education of our county's youth:
I still support quality education. I am interested ip our three
county school units having teachers, equipment apd piiysical
facilities second to nine on the state. I feel strongly that edu
cators, parents and students should work together to promote
interest and pride in our public schools.
