It marked the sixth straight year the local has come home some type of tournament entry with national title. This summer, the Fireballs came home with the Mixed Regular Booster title, and a group bowling under the name of Sea Cove Motel, Myrtle Beach, S. C., •B” copped the Mixed Booster title. TTie Kings Mountlans were joined by several Kannapolis bowlers In forming no less than 16 teams. Ronnie Culbertson paced the Sea Cove Motel team to victory with a 417 aeries. Other scores included Judy Hardy 29B, Jenny Oates 356, Richard Culbertson 369 and J. B. Spurrier 375. The KM tmd Kan napolis bowlers also picked up several third place finishes, and one second. KM southpaw John Dining paced the attack for the Fireballs, scoring a 398. Jim Hardy and Doris Spain each had 378, Spurrier 356 and Judy Hardy 348. The second place came In the Men's "B” Booster, where the Tar Heels lost the title by a mere three pins. Spurrier had a 431, Jim Hardy 400,. Richard Culbertson 355, Ronnie Culbertson 345 and T(nn Draddy 347. Cub Padnters won a third place in the Men’s Regular Booster. Dining led the way with a 396, Richard Culbertson scored a 389, Hardy 385, Spurrier 333 and Rcmnie Culbertson 322. Jenny Oates and Johnny Dye of Kings Mountain helped lead the Des-Mar Beauty Shoppe team to a third place in the Mixed Regular Booster. Mrs. Oates scored a 378 and Dye 379. Other scores Included Ted Solomon 293, Doris Spain 386 and Fletcher 373. The Culbertson brothers helped lead the N. C. State team to a third place In the Men's "B” Boasters. Ronnie led the way with a 422 and Richard added a 343. Other scores In cluded Solomon 287, Fletcher 405 and Spurrier 389. Kings Mountain’s National League all stars, a winner over Bessemer City in its opening game Tuesday night, play at 8:30 tonight against the winner of last night's game between the Kings Mountain American League all-stars and Dallas. The American League drew an opening Tonight’s opening game at 6:30 will pit the loser of the American League - Dallas game against the winner of last night’s Tryon- Bessemer City contest. The winner of tonight’s 8:30 game will sit back and await Saturday's 7:30 p. m. championship game. In Tuesday night’s opening round action, the KM Nationals edged Bessemer City 13-12 and Dallas whipped Tryon 7- Marty Bridges went the distance on the mound for Kings Mountain and Randy Whitaker collected two Stan Sherman, new club pro and manager of Woodbridge Country Club, says things “have been going excellent” during the six months Woodbridge Investors Inc. has owned the course and foresees nothing but success in the future. Sherman and other members of the in vesting group opened the club’s spacious new pro shop Saturday morning, completing one of the first step’s of its expansion program. When the new group purchased Woodbridge in February, according to Sherman, It set a new pro shop as one of Its first priorities. “We decided this was needed,” he said. “We’ve now turned the old pro shop into locker areas and storage eireas for men and women.” Sherman, who was pro at Rlverbend In Shelby the past 11 years and at City Park In Shelby for 13 years before that, says the activities at Woodbridge are booming. ’The club recently held Its Member-Guest golf tournament, with Sherman’s son, Steve, and Gene Blanton taking top honors.
