Annual Central Bazaar Is Scheduled For Nov. 10 Sudle (Mrs. Clarence) Peele started making clowns tor gifts for her Nursery school children at Central Methodist Church 35 years ago and hasn't stopped. Over the years, the colorful clowns decked In aU kinds of finery, have appeared under the C^hrlst- mas tree In hundreds of hmnes In the Kings Moun tain area. Sudle’s clowns, some In printed fabric, others In red satin and all fsishloned of scraps of socks, will be featured In the Central Methodist Church Annual Christmas Bazaar to be held Wed., Nov. 10, at 10:80 a. m. at the Methodist Fellowship Building. In addition to Sudle’s Clowns, which are made from a Simplicity pattern she was given 30 years ago, there will be an assortment of stuffed toys for children Including Santa CSauses, angels, turtles. Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls, rabbits, all of which are completely washable and were hand- embroidered by Mrs. Peele. Women of the Church, readying for the annual event, have held “stuffing parties’’ recently at circle meetings to complete the dolls and animals In time tor the show. Christmas wreaths, holiday gift Items, crafts, plants, canned goods, hcsnemade cakes and pies, and many more bazaar goodies will be available to ' the public at the all-day. traditional event for which proceeds go to the church building fund. Ihe Peeles, who moved to Kings Mountain from Shelby In 1941, are natives of High Point, and both seml-retlred from Mauney Hosiery Mill. Mrs. Peele, who has no children at her home but who has kept “In touch” with all her former nur sery school students at the church over the years, attempts to make each of her clowns “outstanding”, a “very wise” suggestion she was given by a former minister. Rev. Herb Gar mon, who said that “any time you can ever give anything from the church, always make It out standing and something to be cherished and remembered." XmmCaf David Ar739-8717* Ms. Loriot’s Dream Is Now A Reality Glsele Loriot, 33, said she had always dreamed about coming to the United States and teaching French In the public schools. Her dream became a reality last Wednesday when she arrived at Kings Mountain Senior High School to serve as a French teacher aide In the Amity Teacher Aide Program sponsored by Amity In stitute of Del Mar, California. The vivacious, young Frenchwoman, who worked as a medical secretary In Paris before being accepted In the Amity scholarship • ex change program, plans to return to Blols and teach English to French- speaking students. She adi4>ted quickly to the classroom at KMSHS, says her supervisor, Mrs. J. L. Raymer. suid also eqjoys 10 hours of class- work each week in American History and Art. She conducts French classes and assists Mrs. Raymer In preparing French language sched ules. “I really love it In Kings Mountain,” said Glsele, who Is living with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brennan on Allison Court. What Glsele likes best about her new work Is "more contact with stu dents and teachers In a more casual setting” from her French classroom In Blols and Tours College. Her French training was more formal, she said. Glsele also likes the variety of subjects available to the American student and the extra curricular activities which are not available In French school system. After high school in France, Giselle took business training In college for her work as a medical secretary. There were no business subjects offered in the Bols public schools nor are students offered band, etc. “The academic level In France Is much higher,” she explained," because we stick to the basic sub jects such as philosophy, math and literature.” CSsele plans to take back to her country the new educational methods she observes here and bring Into her classroom some of the training she obtains here. “I’d like to see the French classroom livened up a little more," she explained, "like the American clasdsroom.” Another difference In the American-French public school Is there are no sports activities provided, she said, and she’d like to see more, after attending her first football game at Kings Mountain High. Glsele is youngest child of a family of two brothers and sisters. Both parents speak French and Spanish ftoently and her mother is now enrolled in English classes In France. When Glsele writes to her parents, she communi cates In French. Art Is her favorite hobby. IT’S A GIRL Glsele likes to attend art exhibits and enjoys hand crafts, macrame, theatre, and travel. Miss Loriot says teaching jobs In France “are hard to find” but her ambition Is to teach English to her fellow Frenchwomen. Already she Is developing colloquial language at KMSHS and Isn't a bit homesick for France. Mrs. Raymer said that Glsele will be her assistant here until Jan. 31 and that the French Club from KMSHS helps support the exchange program via Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hutchins of 101 Robinson Drive, announce the birth of a daughter, Stephanie Michelle, Wednesday, Oct. 6 In Charlotte Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed two lbs., 18H ounces. The Hutchins also have a son Jason, 16 months. Grandparents are BIr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson- baugh of Columbia, S.
