Mrs. Hazel Fryer,
librarian, said she read M-
H Editor Tun McIntyre's
column last week concern
ing the handbook and
called to say a c<9y of the
1970 edition la available for
reference In Kings
Mouitaln.
The handbook lists mar
kets and requirements tor
stories. It also contains
Informatlan on whether the
various magazines,
periodicals and book
publishers are open for
unsolicited material. That
means material submitted
by the author and not
through an accredited
agent.
Also Included are tips on
writing and selling
material.
Mrs. Fryer said the book
cannot be checked out, but
citizens are free to use It
for reference notes at the
library.

Tax Short
Course Set
For Area
Registration forms and a
program outline are now
available from the county
extension office on the
Farm and Small Business
Income Tax short course
scheduled for this area.
The short course, which
la sponsored by North
Carolina State University,
will feature the recent
changes under the Tax
Reform Act of 1976.
R W. Dameron, Cleve
land county chairman,
said the short course for
this area of the state will
be held December 1-3 at
HOUday Inn No. 8 - Char
lotte.
A total of five short
courses will be held across
the state. Two short
courses of a more ad
vanced nature will be held
at Chariotte on Dec. 1-3
and at N. C. SUte Univer
sity In Raleigh on Dec. 8-
10.
