This year a rock group called "Shotgun” per formed. This groiq) con sists of A1 Eddlns, Wesle Narron, Richard Phllbeck. “Shotgun” presented a concert Friday night for the Woman’s Club. Mike Bumgarner, a senior, also gave an Imitation of Elvis Pressley. Thomp son Jackson of Kings Mountain. She is a graduate of Shelby High School and N. C. State University In Raleigh and is employed by Boney and Associates, Engineering and Survey, Raleigh. The bridegroom-elect Is a graduate of Stanford High School and N. C. State University. He Is employed by Ralph Johnson Associates, Advertising Agency, In Raleigh. The couple plan an April 2 wedding at the home of the bride In Raleigh- VISIT VA HOSPITAL Frank B. Glass Post 9811 and Auxiliary took a trip to Oteen Hospital Sunday, Jan. 30 to play Bingo with some 3S patients. The Auxiliary took 116 pair of socks for the patients and 860 In cash to use for prizes In Bingo. They also donated 100 Bingo cards. Those who took the trip from Kings Mountain were Marlon Dixon, David Delevie, Ben Case, Ruby Stroupe, Alma Sellers and Etta Glass. the school colors and mascots. A House meeting was then held on the following Thursday. Several students were named to the All State Band from KMSHS. They were Susan Anderson, Keith Williams, Regina Patterson, Qn&y Wells, Leanne DeVane, Ray Clemmer, (3iris Holmes, Keith Holt, Lindsay Holmes and Kevin Allison. At least two Cleveland Cbunty facilities — Oard- ner-Webb College and Cleveland Memorial Library — will begin operating on a four-day week, as an energy con servation measure. The four-dsiy week at Oardner-Webb College In Bolling Springs Is one of several voluntary ad justments that Institution has made In reqmnse to the national energy situation created by severe winter weather. Mrs. Maude Kesley, librarian at Cleveland Memorial library, said their four-day work week policy is now effective. She said the library will be open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a. m. until 6:80 p. m. The Ubrary wlU not be open during evening hours nor will schedule any afternoon or evening meetings for groups desiring to use the meeting room facilities. Both Dr. Craven WllUams, president of the college, and Mrs. Kelsey said the adjustments will be effective “until further notice.” Dr. Williams said ad justments will be made In the Monday and Wed nesday class schedules to compensate for the loss of Friday classes. WOMAN’S CLUB The Woman’s Club met on Monday, January 31 at 7:46 p. m. Mrs. Phillip Baker, president, was In charge of business. Hostess along with Mrs. Baker and and In charge of the program, was Mrs. Eugene McCarter, chairman of the Home Life Committee. A program and film on ecology and the reasons why people should give blood, and the Importance of giving blood was presented by the Chairman of the Red Cross for Cleveland County, Mrs. Charles Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton told members that only one person In three hundred donates blood and expressed an urgent need for more donors. TTiree new members were present for the Monday meeting. They are Mrs. Robert Boggan, Mrs. Glenn Lineberry, and Mrs. Hugh Smith. Visiting from Kings Mountain was Mrs. James Potter. ’The next meeting for the Woman’s Club Is scheduled for Mon., Feb. 28. Mrs. Ben T. Goforth will be In charge of the program. Hostesses will be members of the Educational Com mittee.
