The only other player In the South western Conference to outscore Susan was Nancy Scoggins, who led North Gaston to Its second strcdght league title. It marked the third straight year Mltchem had led the Mountalnettes In scoring but her per formance this year meant more because she helped Coach Kathy Brooks* cagers to their best record (18-0) In nine years. Priscilla Rlckenbacker, a sophomore, was the only other Mountalnette to average double figures. Qayla Roberts barely missed scoring double figures, hit ting 200 points for a 0.5 average, and Judy Hen derson was a close fourth with 171 points and an 8.1 average. Thompson, who sat out the last three games for disciplinary reasons, scored 262 points In 10 ballgames for a 18.3 average. Sophomore Vernon Bell was the number two scorer, hitting 241 points In 10 games for a 13.7 average. He sat out the Cleveland County Tlpoff Tournament and one regular season game with an Injury.
