Luncheon was served to 16 guests at tables covered with pink table- clotha and arranged with center- pieces of pink and red spring flowers. Miss Padgett was presented a corsage to ptoi to the shoulder of her party dress and a trousseau gift. Mrs. P. G. Padgett, mother of the bride-to-be, was also a special guest. BROWNIES VISIT ACCIDENT REPORT Eighteen members of Brownie Troop IS visited the Kings Mountain Police Department Monday during their regular meeting and were given an Informative tour and program by Ptl. Donald Ivey. Accompanying the yoimg folks were Mrs. Carolyn Kuykendall, troop leader, and Gloria Jean Childers, assistant leader. Nineteen people were Injured In 80 accidents occurring on Cleveland County roads during the period Feb. 14-30 In which speed was blamed as cause of the accidents, according to Line Sgt M. K. Holcomb of the N. C. State Highway Patrol. Michael S. Blanton, formerly of Kings Moun tain, has been named Circulation Director of the Bristol HersJd Courier and the Vlrglnia-Tennessean, It was announced by Herman Giles, publisher of the Bristol newspapers. Blanton succeeds Harvey Shephard, who has been named president and publisher of the San Marcos (Tex.) Dally Record. The San Marcos news paper Is owned by Worrell newspapers, which also owns the Herald Courtier and Vlrglnia-Tennessean and SO other newspapers In various parts of the United States. Blanton has been acting circulation director of the Bristol newspapers for the past three months, assuming that post when Shephard moved Into a management training program. Blanton was circulation director of the Chapel IBll newspaper beiure moving to Bristol. Prior to that, he was Assistant Circulation manager of the Gastonia Oasette. Mike Is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and also has studied at North Carolina State University In Raleigh and at Gaston College. He Is married to the former Susan Wilson also of Kings Mountain. Mike and Susan are making their home at 874 Meadowcrest Dr. In Bristol, Va. Lieutenant Davis Returns From Sea Maneuvers^. Navy Lieutenant Richard E. Davis Jr., whose wife Jane Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Qulim of Route 3, Box 79 , Bessemer City, N. C., has returned from an extended deployment In the Mediterranean Sea. He Is a member of Fighter Squadron (VF)-74 hcmebased at the Oceana Naval Air Station, Virginia Beach, Va. The squadron was embarked aboard the nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Nlmltz for the deployment. His squadron, which operates the F4 “Phan tom” jet fighter, partlel- pated In numerous training manuevers os a unit of the U. S. Sixth Fleet, Including . the major NATO exer “National Week XXI’’ and ‘Display Determination.” In addition, he and his fellow squadron members had the opportunity to visit Morocco, Italy, Gibraltar and Spain. A 1971 graduate of Georgia Technical Oollegs>" Atlanta, with a bachelor of science degree, he joined the Navy In February, 1973.
