Page eA-MIRROR-HERALD-Thorsday, April *1, 1977 IVldunties At Qieiryville Friday Errors Costly In 7-5 Loss To North Gaston Tuesday Kings Mountain's Mountaineers missed a golden opportunity to get a little breathing room In their quest for a South western Conference play off spot Tuesday night at Lancaster Field when they dropped a 7-6 Division One contest to North Oaston. A victory by the Moun taineers would have glwsa them a full two-game lead over the Wildcats and would have kept them within a game of unbeaten and division-leading South Point. But the loss left the Mountaineers with a 6-3 division record, while South Point remained un beaten with an 8-0 victory ooer BeoMmer City. The Red Raiders are now 7-0 In the division and need only one more win to lock up at least a tie (or first place. North Oeeton kept Us playoff hopes alive as the Wildcats ran their division mark to 4-8. Coach Barron Lee’s charges have lost only to Kings Mountain, South Point and Bast Gas- ton. The Mountaineers, who have three regular season games remaining, need a combination of three vic tories or three North Oaston losses to sew up second place. The Moun taineers travel to Cherry- vUle Friday night and complete their regular season next week against Bast Gaston at home and South Point away.
