KMHS finished a Jay vee year last season for the first time since the I 1960’s, and the Little Mountaineers have a strong seven-game schedule for this yeaer. ‘‘They’re looking real good so far,” said Head Coach Bobby Jones. ‘‘They’ll be running die Identical plays that we run.” Jones said the entire coaching staff would probably accompany the team to Bums next week. For the tollowing games, the coaches might not be the same ones each week. The Jayvees will be running out of the 1- tormatlon and will have two capable players operating at the Im portant quarterback position. But Settlemirre will also represent the Chevrolet fans and Lowe will be trying for the Ford fans. Lowe’s Ford has been the most successful Ford production In the Chevrolet dominated NASCAR Late Model Sportsman circuit this year. Settlemyre won the first series of Match races when in the semi finals he defeated Lowe and went on to beat Bob Pressley In the finals. . Bosco met Pressley in ' the second series In the finals and was defeatsd by Pressley. It should be a very in teresting race. in the street stocks, Steve Hart will race Mike Pitts in the finals of that division. This Is the first series tor the Street Stocks. In addition to the Match races, the Late ^ Model Division will be " racing In a special 100 lap feature. Wally Davis, guard Mark Scruggs and tackles Darrell Strong and Calvin Wofford. The Patriots play their first two games at home against West McDowell and Crest, before hitting the road on September 29 against Grandview. The Jayvees, coached by David Hart and Phil Withers, are also looking good as they prepare for their Sep tember 14 opener at West McDowell. VARSITY SCHEDULE SEPTEMBER 10, W.
