MITCHEM ENGAGED — Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mltchem of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Carolyn Lorraine, to WllUe James Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alaska Jones of Gastimla. The bride-to-be Is a Kings Mountain Senior High graduate. The bridegroom-to-be is an Ashbrook of Gastonia graduate. The wedding will be November 26 event at New Bynum’s Chapel ; AME Zion Church. She firmly believes that the quality of the Gen eral Assembly will im prove with the appear ance of women In the Senate and she said her place there has been most rewarding. Dr. Rose Hover of New Orleans, La. was organist for the pro gram of .nuptial music and Miss Cheryl Fell of Baton Rouge was vocal soloist, who sang ‘“nie Wedding Song” and “Climb Every Moun- tsdn” with giiltar ac companiment. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an elegant long gown of Ivory-hued silk organza and re- embroidered Alencon lace encrusted In seed pearls. The bodice, fashioned of the lace, had a sheer organza yoke and a ring collar of lace. Appliques of lace were scattered down the length of the long straight sleeves and the A-llne skirt had an A- ahaped panel of lace down the frcnt of the skirt. In closing remarks, Mrs. Marvin Insisted that women need to channel their contributions in many, many ways. Miss Mary Kate Goncyl of New Orleans was the bride’s maid of honor and Miss Lanle Thomas of New Orleans and Miss Lisa Dreher, sister of the bride- groom, were bridesmaids. All the attendants wore long gowns of shell pink organza. The fitted bodice had a scoop neckline edged by two flounces and the full skirts were also edged by a flounce which formed a bustle to the back. In their hair, they wore bows of silk. They carried one long stemmed pink rose with baby’s breath. The bridegroom’s father was best man. Groomsmen were Glen Dreher, brother of the bridegroom; John Mldiael McGlimls, m, and Mark McGinnis, brothers of the bride. Ushers were Kenny Ibas and Danny Webber, both of New Oileans. For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. McGinnis chose an aqua Qulana formal capped in chiffon. The bridegroom’s mohier was gowned In lime green chiffon and floral print. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McGinnis of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Joe H. Delany of Atlanta, Oa., grandparents of the bride, were ushered and seated In family pews. After the ceremony the bride’s parents entertained at a beautl- fUlly-appointed recep tion at Lakewood Country Club where the theme of the wedding was featured In decora tive details and refresh ments. Guests danced to the music of the Godfrey Hlrsch band. Palms were placed throughout the club lounge where small tables were draped with pale blue satin and held nosegays of pink sweet heart roses and gyp- sophllla. The bride’s table held a flve-tlered wedding cake and an arrangement of sweetheart roses, tuberoses and gyp- sophllla. Cake and punch were served with party pick-ups. For traveling, the bride wore a white Qulana dress with white Talisman sash and carried a small bouquet of ’Talisman silk roses and baby’s breath. BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM The bride is a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy and Is majoring In psychology at LSU where she is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She Is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McGinnis of Kings Mountain and great- granddaughter of die late Mayor and Mrs. Wiley H. McGinnis and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence ’Tracy Corn- well, prominent citizens at Kings Mountain. She Is maternal grand daughter of Mrs. Joe H. Delany and the late Mr. Delany of Atlanta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Aubrey Dreher of Bastrop, La. are parents of the bridegroom who is a graduate of Bastrop Hl^ School and also a senior at Louisiana State University, majoring in business administration.
