Miss Phillips, Mr. Rikard United In Marriage Miss Jenny Louise Phillips and Barry Eu gene Rikard, both of Kings Mountain, were lailted In marriage Sun., Sept. 18, In a S p. m. ceremony In El Bethel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Q. A. Upton heard the exchange of vows In a double-ring ceremony. Wayne L.. Ware was organist for the pro gram of nuptial music and Miss Patricia Cash was vocal soloist. Miss Cash sang “O Perfect Love” before the cere mony and "Wedding Prayer” as the benediction. The altar of the church was decorated with white wrought-lron candelabra holding white tapers against a background of green palms. Two baskets of autumn flowers graced each side of the altar. Ihe bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of Ivory satin organza and Imported peau de’ange lace posed over faille taffeta. The empire laced bodice featured a tucked yoke appllqued with lace medallions delicately traced with pearls. The high neck line was finished with a lace Edwardian collar. A band of lace defined the raised waistline. Bishop sleeves were banded with lace and had deep lace cuffs and lace frills at the wrist. Ihe column skirt had a wide hemline flounce trimmed with lace scollops which extended around the Chapel length train. The bride’s waist-length veil was of En^lsh tulle and was bordered with lace florets and caught to a lace Camelot cap sparked with pearls. She carried a bouquet of Ivory sweetheart roses on a white Bible which had been presented to her as a wedding gift from the women of Sec ond Baptist Church. Mrs. Bobby Phillips of Jacksonville, Fla., sister-ln-law of the bride, was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Nancy Ri kard, sister of the bride groom, Mrs. Ceclle Reynolds, aunt of the bride, both of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Bar bara Edwards, cousin of the bride, of Shelby, and Mrs. Gail Manning, of Gastonia, cousin of the bridegroom. Mrs. gusie Falls McDonaVl. pre sided at the guest register. All the attendants wore floor-length dresses of melon which featured a portrait collar and a tucked waistline. They wore melon colored hats with a melon print sash draped from the back and carried nosegays of autumn flowers. Jerry Manning of Gastonia was the bridegroom’s best man. Ushers were Bobby Phillips, brother of the bride, of Jacksonville, Fla., Scott PhllUps of Kings Mountain, brother of the bride, Jerry Rikard, brother of the bridegroom, and Jim Grayson, both of Kings Mountain. The bride’s family entertained at a recep tion In the church fellowship hall Immedi ately following the cere mony. The bridal table was overlaid with Irish linen and featured silver appointments of party pickups and highlighted by a silver candelabrum at the center. Helping the guests were Mrs. Jim Grayson, Mrs. Bill Albright, Mrs. Karen HaU and Mrs. Sarah Ellis. BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phillips of Kings Mountain. A 1974 graduate of Kings Mountain High School, she recently received her degree In ac counting from MR. AND MRS . PAUL ALAN PREWITT (Donna Blanton) Ormond Beach Gardens Is Scene Of Wedding Cleveland Tech where she was a charter member of Gamma Beta Society. She Is employed by the Tultex Yarn Group of Gasttmla, formerly of Kings Mountain. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Rikard of Kings Moun tain, Is also a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and Is a recent graduate at Cleveland Tech where he received a degree In Industrial Management. He Is employed by the city of Kings Mountain. She is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi; Kappa Tau Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societlei. She it working as a reporter for the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
