Hostess chapters were the Wil liam Gaston and Major William Chronicle Chapters. In the absence of the District Director, Mrs. O. N. Lynn, Mrs. Perry Starnes, state program chairman, presided. She presented the State Regent, Mrs. Msirtha Robinson, whose comments were cen tered siroimd the film, "Home and Country" which la a project of the Society to show historical places of special Interest and education throughout the nation. It Is owned by the State Society and may be rented for program use by con tacting the Stsde Headquarters in Raleigh. Among the special guests was the Director of the DAR School at Crossnore, Robert Martin. Two other schools of special In terest to the Society are Tamassee, Oa., established in 1971 auid Kate Dimcan Smith In 1024. Interest in and financial help are also given to several schools In the Indian Area. Also, the National Flag has been made In braille so as to aid the blind In feeling a true sense of patriotism. Time and money have also been given to the Veterans Hospitals Eind Centers by the DAR. There are 108 State DAR Chapters and between 200,000-800,000 National chapters. Survey Mrs. Doris Brooks and Mrs. jEinlce Teeter will conduct a survey on home Improvement and travel In the Kings MoLmtaln iLrea Oct. 1-16. A Bureau of Census survey, questions on Improvement and upkeep of residential properties will be asked. Conducted four times annually, the home Improvement survey yields vEiluable data to the public.
