Out of a total enroll ment of 1,474 last year, 66.75 percent of the stu dent body received some type of financial assistance. According to Ms. Martin, the average award for 1976-77 was $1,822.37. Assistance comes In several different forms. It may be from a federally - sponsored program, such as na tional direct student loans, the work-study program, or nursing scholarships or loans. There are some state assistant programs, such as North Carolina legislative tuition grants. There are both academic and athletic scholarships available and also some Christian service scholarships. Some students have several different types of aid, Ms. Martin said. Some may have student loans and at the same time be on a work-study program.
