First Ladies’ Fashions Modled At Farm Banquet Of our nation’s First Ladles, a dosen of their more stylish ensembles were modeled for last Tuesday night's Cleveland County Farm Bureau annual banquet at the County Agricultural Building — and to the delight of the crowd at tending. Her formal wear influenced a return to NS open Gate Garden Club Meeting Held Open Gate Garden Clubbers held a recent meeting at the home of Mrs. John Gamble on Castleberry Dr. with 16 members present. Mrs. Jim Dickey was program chairman for the afternoon and her topic was "Showing, Telling and Selling." Members had brought home-grown plants which were auc tioned for club benefit. Mrs. Gamble presided over business of the meeting. The hooded cloak Is made of seven and one-half yards of wide whale cordudroy and banded In duplicate from Textiles, Inc. Fully lined. It allows freedom of movement. Beneath the gold cloak, the bodice Is corded In each of the seams and features soft sleeves. The printed cotton chains Is by Peter Pan Oo. and the skirt’s foundation la a full petticoat. President Franklin Pierce’s wife, Jane, might have worn the traveling dress modeled by Sadie Patterson. It featured a fringe from Its own plaid ploth. Tha pagoda deaves are split to reveal full undersleeves. Lace complements both sleeves and collar. A capelet covers the low shoulder line of the bodice. The hoop underneath Is made of five concentric steel bands hung from the waistband and covered by a single petticoat. Ken Vassey who served as show commentator, opened the parade of models by wearing a white cotton nightgown and cap which Martha Washington might have worn.
